Wasn't he pooping out of his mouth a couple of years ago about how Minnesota was going to beat us in the playoffs? The guy likes to hear himself talk. I know, I know, he's "charismatic". Whatever man, if it's such a big problem (obviously not for his 10 million dollar ass), he can go talk to this guy:

http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/54/75UU.html

I'm sure he has some revenue-sharing money in-between his couch cushions that he can use to help the poor Twins feed their families.

I have two words for him: "Fvck you."

Seriously. $10M in one season and he's bitching? His team's owners should be PISSED at him for that comment. For some reason, it's the Yankees players' fault that their owner PUTS HIS PROFITS BACK INTO THE TEAM, instead of pocketing them. F*cking idiot.

Damn, I wish I had that minimum wage. I make 5.15 an hour. What a whiney little bitch.

Looks like he'll be expecting a payday.

I would like to know the context of his quote. He doesn't seem like the type of player that would bitch about payroll discrepency. A couple of years ago he was on ESPN's 'Hot Seat' and he joked about how he would consider playing for the Yankees since Steinbrenner would pay him well. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was kidding this time as well.

He's just bitter because he knows he'll never be a Yankee now that we have Johnny Damon. Get over yourself, Torii. I bet he wasn't thinking at all about the payroll when the Twins beat the Yankees on Saturday.

Whatever.

Very loose use of the word "we". Does he know how much Rasner makes? Rasner makes minimum wage and he shut down the Twins. We didnt need our high priced pitchers to take 2 out of 3....our 4th, 6th, and 7th starters were able to do the job.

I agree. Whenever I hear these sort of quotes I wonder what the rest of the converstion was and what the tone was. Torii always seems like one of the good guys to me. I doubt there was any bad intent with his comments. Of course, I'm sure he desperately wants to be a Yankee. Who wouldn't?

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. They put up ONE run against Rasner, one of our lowest paid players. I have no idea what he is complaning about. Maybe he was just upset because they weren't playing in a Dome, and the wind really screwed him up this series.

Its not just Rasner. I'm sure Karstens, Wang, Cano, and Cabrera are making MLB minimum, or just slightly higher.

Well, all Hunter has to do is hold out another month and then some sucker team will fall for his great defense/overrated offense and give him a payday.

I'd also be interested in the context only because in the same interview he joked about A-Rod not being human by the way he crushed the ball yesterday. Yet, bottom line, you just don't go around spouting off stuff like this - never. He did the rest of his team a huge injustice, whether he was joking or not.

If he is a free agent after this year, I can see Boston going after him. What's ten million to them!

Wow, that's one of the worst things I've read in a while. Some people really are stupid. 10 million dollars. What a joke.

Re: Torii Hunter on the Yankees

Torri is pissed for a few reasons

1. He was so sure he was going to be traded that he sold his home before the season started.
2. With the Yankees out of the market for a center fielder, he will likely make less money this coming year.
3. His "minimum wage" is $192,000 per week. After taxes, he'll be lucky to bring home $115,000.
4. He has a girl's name.

I'd like to see the context too. No matter what the question was, the statement is bitchy, but I have to think someone pushed him with a question like "Do you feel it's fair that the Yankees have a $200 million payroll while you guys have only (whatever it is)?" and he just repeated the question back.
