Sweeny Murti Leaving?

Sweeny Murti, who covers the Yankees for WFAN radio in New York, is the lead candidate to become the Phillies' new pregame and postgame host on radio broadcasts. Murti, talented and likable, is a native of the Harrisburg area.

I really like Sweeney. This would be a big shame. He's a very good guy.

Last I listened to WFAN (it's been about a year), I noticed that Sweeny always did a great job. He always took a lot of crap from the two idiots who do the afternoon drive time show.

Those two nitwits would always give him a hard time...and then always laugh and kiss Ed Coleman's (Mets) butt.

Russo especially is an ass.

Re: Sweeny Murti Leaving?

YES should have hired him instead of Kim Jones, who, if she is the same Kim Jones that occasionally fills in on WFAN, is a billion times better on radio than on the postgame show.

Back to Sweeny, if he moves here maybe we can be friends and share milkshakes and stuff.

Sweeney is actually a really HUGE Phillies fan. So if he did get this job, I would be incredibly happy for the guy.

Good for him, he deserves it.

You know what else surprised me today?

John Minko is the PBP for FDU basketball. I was looking at the scorers table at the QU-FDU game, I was shocked that there was an announcer I actually knew at the game

Good for Minko, he does PBP somewhere, at least.

Re: Sweeny Murti Leaving?

What also surprsied me was that Bob Sheppard was the PA announcer for the N.Y. Giants until last year.

I also noticed on at least two seperate occasions, John Sterling announcing YES Nets games.

After he left WMCA back in the day, Sterling for some years was the Atlanta Hawks announcer before he came back to New York. Sheppard calling Giants games goes back to when they played at Yankee Stadium.

Bob Sheppard also did the PA for the St John's Redmen basketball games at Alumni Hall in the late 70s-early 80s.

Sorry to see Sweeny Murti leave. I enjoyed his work.

As much as I like Murti and his work, he does not have the appearance for a TV job

http://www.saja.org/sweenymurti.html

I wish him well and hope that he gets the Phillies job - both for his own loyalties, as well as the fact that I will be able to listen to his work here in the City of Brotherly love.

Sweeny is a professional. IF this is true that it's the Phillies gain and the Yanks have loss a good one. Good luck to him.

I don't really consider the Yes Network a bastion for people of physical beauty, unless Suzyn Waldman, Kim Jones, Ken Singleton, Michael Kay, Jim Kaat, etc. are/were all lookers and I just have bad taste*.

*note: I have impeccable taste

I like sweeny to, he seems genuine and he knows his stuff. I also like that he fights with mike and mad dog when they go on their silly rants.
