Considering the fact that Boston smashes the Angels in the postseason every chance they get, maybe the Yankee FO has the right plan of attack.

I like the way Scioscia has the Angels play ball much better than I like the way the Yankees play ball under Girardi. It's not a personality thing. I just think that Scioscia is a better manager than either Joe.

i think mike scocia is a very good manager however, we have joe and that is good enough.

Without question Scioscia is a better manager than Girardi at this moment, but it might not remain that way for long.

in all fairness mike scocia is one of the very best managers in the whole of the majors and is consistently backed by his GM and ownership.

I hate listening to Thom Brenneman going on and on about how the Angels are the best team in baseball. They are very clearly hot right now, but heres a list of teams with better Run Differential/Game

Chicago Cubs - 1.16
Boston Red Sox - .93
Philadelphia Phillies - .60
Chicago White Sox - .56

The Angels are at .52. They are very hot right now though and they have gotten insanely lucky the entire year.

run differential is a good key to understand how good a team is but i'd back the angels to beat all of those you've listed. neither the phillies or the cubs are that good. i consider the angels, tampa, and boston to be superior to every NL team.

So would I, because they are hot right now. But things can change over the last 40+ games of the season. The Angels aren't going to score 7 runs a game forever. And they aren't going to overperform their Pythagorean O/U for nearly nine games all season either, while the Oakland A's aren't going to underperform their Pyth by 5 games forever either. What I am saying is that the Angels are not clearly the best team in baseball, rather the hottest team.

I hear this a lot on talk radio. To me, this is in the past. The Angels humiliated Boston this year. As a Sox fan, I want no part of them in the playoffs. As of now, maybe the wild card team can get hot and win a 5 game series. I don't see them losing if they make it past the first round.

Why hate the Angels? They have been a better team than the Yankees for going on eight years now.

They were coached much better than when Torre was the manager.

Soscia still maximizes his players' potential, which is reflected in how focused and clutch they are against the Yankees. These regular season spankings they perform on the Yankees mean a whole lot more to them than the Yanks. They have a playoff-like focus when they play NY.

Face it, NY has not been a team built to beat a team like the Angels for quite some time. That is why it will be a number of years before NY can even draw even with LA.

I feel Girardi is a better manager than Soscia, but this over-the-hill squad just simply will not beat them. Until our front office makes trades & signings for the good of our future and gets rid of over-rated/paid double play machines like Matsui, Damon and Giambi (or better yet DOESN'T sign them in the first place!!!), the Garretts and Figgins of scrappers like LA will continue to pick apart the Yankees with stolen bases, sac-flies and clutch performances in close games.
