I just saw it on ESPNEWS. He said so in a Sundy Converstaion with Orel Hirsheiser that will air this Sunday. He also sounds off on Barry Bonds. He makes some good points there.

He said that pretty much since he signed the extention with the Sox that he'd retire once his contract was over with

There are many things that annoy me of him, but the game will miss him. He is a player that you love if he's on your team and hate if he's not.

He also does as much charity work as anyone in the game. You may have to take the bad with the good in Schilling, but there's plenty of good.

You're right. LIke the other poster said. I hate him because he's on the Sox, but I'd love to have him on the Yankees.

You bring up a good point. I doubt that Schilling being the media wh*re that he is will actually leave the game completely. Expect to see him on ESPN, expect for him to have his own radio show, etc, etc.

He'd be great as an announcer. His preparation and knowledge of the game, especially hitters, would be invaluable in a booth. He'd be a lot like Johnny Miller is with golf, I would think.

Truly elite players rarely bother with the booth. Would Schill really spend another year on the road for the chump change these guys get paid?
