Oddly, the Charleston River Dogs list Clippard as their starter for today's game. The implication is that it's a spot start.

BY BILL HENLEY
Of The Post and Courier Staff

Needing one win to clinch a playoff berth, the RiverDogs will send Tyler Clippard, a Florida State League all-star who has been brought down from High-A Tampa, to the mound. Greenville will start left-hander Adam Blackley, who is 1-7 with a 6.54 ERA.

Sure enough he is starting. I'm 99% sure its because they want to keep him on his regular throwing schedule.

Free. The link doesnt work yet but Gameday does. Goddamn they really should let us see the splits and game logs for these guys. It's obvious that they have them in the system (you can click on someone like clippard and see lots of their splits)

Re: Minor League All-Star Games (FSL TODAY!!)

ABEL GOMEZ coming in to pitch right now

First Batter: gets to an 1-2 count and Belleroin hits a fastball that was high and outside of the zone to right field which is misplayed, and turns into a double.

Second Batter: line out to 1st

Third Batter: ground out

Fourth Batter: K!

Fastball looks like it has decent movement, he has a slider-curve looking thing that has some bite, but nothing with big time motion.

I love Gomez's motion/Perfect wind up.(WOW)

He threw two nasty pitches to K the 4TH batter he faced.

I don't understand how he walks so many batters.

Me neither, his control looked perfect there.
