All-time Jewish team

Since I'm bored now, I just thought it would be cool to make roster of all Jewish players.

C - Moe Berg, Brad Ausmus, Mike Leiberthal
1B - Mike Epstein
2B - ???
SS - Lou Boudreau (HOF)
3B - Al Rosen, Ron Cey
OF - Hank Greenberg (HOF), Shawn Green, Gabe Kapler
DH - Ron Blomberg
SP - Sandy Koufax (HOF), Ken Holtzman, Steve Stone, Bo Belinsky, Scott Schowenweis
RP - Jason Marquis, Al Levine
Announcer - Mel Allen

Anybody I'm missing?

LOL Jim- you know, they're not making Jews like Jesus anymore!!!!

(with credit to Kinky Friedman and his Texas Jewboys)

Bern51-Scott Radinsky of the Indians is Jewish and so is Keith Glauber of the Reds. The braves have a Jewish catcher in their farm system-Jesse Levis

You forgot Art Shamsky of the 69 Mets-
Is David Eckstein Jewish? Of so the Angels would have a lot of Jews!

Eddie Zosky played 2B for about 4 games with Houston last season.

Otherwise it's Eckstein, who might not be Jewish but with that name he SHOULD be.

You know, I don't know the ethnicity of most players.......actually you can guess perhaps, but I am surprised that some of those listed are Jewish......just didn't know it.....mazel tov to them of course.

Is the infielder Mordecai Jewish?? If so, that might fill the 2B position.

Wow, just found a good site for Jewish anybody....

www.jewhoo.com

ANY Jewish baseball player ever!!

So, Eckstein and Leiber are not Jewish, apparently. Same with David Cone, Trevor Hoffman, and Walt Weiss.

Isn't Gabe Kapler Jewish also? I'm pretty sure he is because I seem to remember him discussing Chad Curtis witnessing to him when he first joined the Rangers.

Funny bit from The Simpsons.

Re: Krusty.

Homer - "Mel Brooks is JEWISH?!?".

A link to Jewish baseball players.

-----------------------------------------------------

This is from that site about Gabe Kapler:

Quote:
A former NY Yankees centerfielder had a reputation of hectoring NY Jewish sportswriters that they "might go to hell--if they didn't convert." He was traded to the Rangers and he tried to "convert" Gabe Kapler. Kapler, it is reported, experienced some minor anti-Semitic incidents while in the minors and he had shrugged them off. However, he decided to confront this outfielder head-on. Kapler figured he needed some religious heavyweights to help him discuss religion in an informed way.
Hmmm. Could it be. . . CHAD CURTIS??

Our Jewish Former Centerfielder

Speaking of Yankee "centerfielders", check this out:

Quote:
Elliott Maddox - African-American outfielder who played from 1970 to 1980. He played mostly for the Yankees and the Mets (3 seasons with each team). Two years with the Rangers. Lifetime .26l hitter. Two .300 seasons with the Yankees. Convert to Judaism.

Shalom, Elliott!

-------------------------

Same site. Babe Ruth's roomy Jewish!

Quote:
Jimmy Reese - Born James Hymie Solomon, in San Francisco. Played for the Yankees, from 1930-31. Cardinals in 1932. Second baseman. He was Babe Ruth's roommate. Reese has said this meant he usually roomed with Ruth's suitcase, because the Babe liked to "party". Reese played in the Pacific Coast League for 12 seasons, sandwiched around his time with the Yankees and was a coach with the Angels for decades after his retirement as a player. He is in the Angels' team hall of fame.

Bern-that site is a hoot! I bookmarked it! Figures Chad Curtis would try to convert Kapler-that boy is a real yahoo! Even the holy Rollers on the yanks couldn't stand him

BTW-other than Brosius, mariano, and Williams, who are the really religious players on the Yanks?
