The New York Yankees (16-17) open a 3 game later tonight at Safeco Field against the Seattle Mariners (15-15). New York has won 7 of 10 while Seattle has lost 5 of 8. The teams split a 4 game series at Yankee Stadium last weekend.

Darrell Rasner (1-1, 2.75) gets the start for the Yankees against Jarrod Washburn (2-3, 3.18). The same duo squared off last Sunday where Rasner through 5.2 scoreless innings to Washburn's 3 ER over 5.1, and the Yankess were victorious, 5-0.

In his last 3 starts for NYY (April 14, April 19, and May 3), Rasner has allowed just 1 ER over 15.1 IP, despite not lasting more than 5.2 IP or throwing more than 81 pitches. A key component for Rasner success over that sampling is that he has walked just 3 batters. Rasner also through 8 scoreless innings at AAA Scranton after he was optioned in late April, so that's 1 ER over his last 23.1 IP between the two.

A sweep of this series would be nice. The team needs to build up some momentum with the games against the White Sox, Mets, and Red Sox coming up.

Everyone seems so worried about the White Sox series and I don't see why. They are ok, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were just a .500 team this year.

Same here. The M's have played us tough lately and played us tough in Seattle last year. Should be a capacity crowd for all 3 games, which Safeco doesn't see much of anymore.

Been there done that, I have a 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old. I can stay up late but they wake up at 6am no matter what time you get to sleep. By 6 -8 months old the baby should sleep through the night.

Hopefully Rasner can give us 6 strong today. Ill take 5 but id love 6. I hope Abreu is dropped to like the 8th hole, and i want to see AROD at the 3 spot. Posada is killing it right now and i hope he keeps it up. Lets get a W.

I agree, Abreu should be dropped down. Your number 3 hitter should be someone that is not afraid to come up with the game on the line. My choice would be Matsui (Damon, Jeter, Matsui, Arod, Giambi, Posada, Abreu, Cano, Minky/Phleps).
