Yeah, pretty much. Not to mention, this statement, ("It was almost automatic that if he put runners on in the sixth, he came out. He didn't really get a chance to prove that he could get them out.") is a factually correct one.

He is staying in the AL East, and instead of facing the O's he will be facing the Yanks. He is a year older and even if you factor in Leo what did you see in him the last 2 years with us that would say "180 innings pitched @ under 4.5 era?"

I like Jaret, I thought he was a gamer, I wish him well and hope he does excellent against everybody but us. But the man has been in the league for 10 season and has averaged 96 innings each season. Since breaking out as a star with the Indians he has pitched over 150 innings only twice.

180-190 innings pitched at a 4.10-4.30 clip and half your starts in Camden? I would say that is going out on a limb.

If he makes 32 starts and his manager isn't Joey Four Rings, he'll pitch 180-190 innings. I think his ERA there will be around 4.30-4.70

We'll see since he'll have plenty of baserunners next season.

His career Era is around 5 and I don't see him having any statistical anomalies from here on out. Well, like I said I wish him well.

Re: Jaret Wright to the Orioles

I like this trade, since we got something for literally nothing. We pay the 4 million and he's gone anyway, only we get a relief prospect for a bullpen that is somewhat lacking in depth, and the oppertunity to pummel him habitually when we play Baltimore. I'm not sure if this is at all a good trade for Baltimore (depends on Wright's open market value), but from a Yankee standpoint, this trade is all positive. I know that some people will say that the yankees, having lost out on Matsuzaka, should've kept Wright, but the fact is, the yankees have minor league depth (especially with the recent trades), and that is what it allows you to do. If push comes to shove and we can't sign any FA starters for some reason, I'd be ok with Wang, Mussina, Johnson, and 2 of Hughes, Rasner, Clippard, Sanchez, White, Karstens, and Pavano as the long shot. Nice trade to pick up a prospect.

I agree with you on the trade being positive, as it forces the Yanks to move beyond the mediocrity that Wright represents. Plus, I like Britton. On the other hand, that rotation you mentioned isn't likely to get it done. There's got to be more in the works.

Its not only moving past the Wright mediocrity, replacing Wright's performance with a pitcher who can perform at the same or higher level at a fraction of the price. The team saves roughly $4 million by letting Wright go without losing anything tangible in terms of production. That $4 million could be used for another reliever, a couple of bench players or to put the team over the top in a contract with a starting pitcher.

I think those numbers are bit optimistic. But pitching in Camden Yards shouldn't make too much difference, it has played as a slight pitchers park for several years. It's not as pitcher-friendly as Yankee Stadium, but it's no bandbox either.
