Imagine if the Yankees did have a new pitching coach.....a great Weaver, a great Contreras, a great Vazquez, Mussina at the top of his game.

I don't think it was a stupid trade. They got rid of someone who can't do what the Yankees need players to do---win big games. He wasn't going to help us win. Now they can use the money more wisely.

I remember a Baltimore game last year where he struck out ten and I had seats 8 rows behind the O's dugout which gave me a sideways view of the splitter/forkball and how it broke. That pitch was something else. I know it was against Balt, but nobody on this staff except El Duque gives me any more confidence than Contreras did at this moment in time. Harold Reynolds is pretty fair about the Yankees, and I remember him talking up Jose's arsenal before this trade took place. I have a feeling he will come back at some point down the road.

Other than Duque only Jose gave you confidence in the Yankees starting rotation? This starting rotation must be even worse than I thought.

Edit: Harold Reynolds is the most pro-Yankee baseball guy on ESPN.

Harold is one of the most un-biased people on all of ESPN. He never hesitates to compliment the Yankees, and always talks about the game itself, rarely if ever bringing up things like payroll/salaries and other "behind the scenes" stuff.

He's one of the few guys I really enjoy on ESPN.
