The NYY All-Farm Team
This getting knocked out of the playoffs has me disappointed. So time to turn to one of the favorites - the minor league system.
Please put forth your all-farm team. All players must CURRENTLY be in the minors - any level in the US. Assume that they are all MLB average at the very least.
Here's mine:
C Jesus Montero
1B Gerardo Rodriguez
2B HolyCrapTheresNoOne
SS Eduardo Nunez
3B Marcos Vechionacci
LF Austin Jackson
CF Brett Gardner

SP Phil Hughes
SP Christian Garcia

Garcia is Mr. Tools; just hasn't done anything with it yet. His ceiling is higher than that of Hughes; but it's generally accepted that while Hughes is nearing his cieling, Garcia is still on the floor.

pretty much sums it up, Garcia has King Felix, liriano, wow-you type stuff, and we hope he starts to translate it. We could have Betances and Garcia almost coming up at the same time which would be filthy, we can only hope

Re: The NYY All-Farm Team
Hughes just turned 20 this past season and you think he is nearing his ceiling? He is certainly progressing and learning at a faster than expected pace but I don't think he is anywhere close to his ceiling. He has room to add a little upper body strength which could add a couple of ticks to the fast ball. He can still add another pitch (2 seamer, cut fastball, split finger, ....). He is obviously a quick learner but he has plenty more to learn from AAA experience and hanging around Musina and company. I think you can expect him to reach his ceiling in about two years. This is JMO but I think we see Hughes' success this past season and translate that to "nearing his ceiling". If you hear the coaches and coordinators who have worked with Hughes, they all say he "has the potential" to be someone very special at the major league level. Garcia will also start rapid development as soon as he stays healthy and he'll start making progress.

I think he meant what you wrote, as in he is making fast forward progress to reach his cieling, not that he has close to meeting it...while Garcia hasn't really made that much progress, little, but not a lot.

Re: The NYY All-Farm Team
This is probably a REALLY stupid question, but where is Tabata projected to play in the OF (which position is he best-suited to)?

Re: The NYY All-Farm Team
''They'' said that if he fills out, he'll play right field. But apparently he has the speed to play center.

Re: The NYY All-Farm Team
There are many franchises that would take your roster and immediately start it in the majors next year.

Re: The NYY All-Farm Team
I still like Vech. I really think the change in his swing this year forced him to take a large step back, but once he gets it, he'll be very, very good. I could be wrong , but I think he's primed for takeoff this year.
Of course DaYanks will say its not true, Vech will flame out and I'll be left humiliated and burying my sorrow in a beer bottle. Not that I'm bitter or anything."No, I would not like to reconsider being a Yankee fan, and no, marrying a New Englander should have no bearing on it."
