How about Cory Lidle?
That was a masterful performance. Anytime you shut out that team in that ballpark for six innings, is a blast! I don't know if this puts Lidle on a higher level, but he sure came through in a big spot for us today!

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
What, is it all about payroll? What a surprise! How original!

How ridiculous. Did he watch ANY of the Series? If it's about payroll, Scott Proctor makes $350,000 a year.

I wasn't able to watch most of the game, but from what I saw and what he did, he was incredible.
“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.”

I can tell you this: If it was RED SOX who had swept us, he'd be talking baseball, not budgets!

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
No, he just hates Cory Lidle because he called Barry Bonds out on steroids and not Jason Giambi (who was Lidle's teammate on Oakland and in high school)

Hate to get anal about this, but Mad Dog is not there today. Beningo is there with (I think) Huesler. Definitely not Doggy.

Hey, give Boomer some credit. I don't like him personally, but he has always been a great pitcher. He had a fantastic game today. There is no telling what the outcome would have been if Francona had left him in. We might be in the 12th inning tied 1-1.

Sign him up. The guys got balls the size of pickle jars. He doesn't back down and never loses his cool. I like him.

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
Y'know what? I gotta tip my cap to Brian Cashman. There was a ton of talk about getting Bobby Abreu, and a lot of fear that we'd have to give up Phil Hughes to do it. Yet, somehow, Cash pulled the trigger on this deal without giving up squat, and with Cory Lidle as a throw in.
Thanks, Cash. Thanks a ton. Well done.

Cashman is sitting back in his office, smoking a cigar, and smiling right now.

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
great job by cory... he had our best starting pitching performance of the series...either him or ponson..tough call... .anyways for lidle to pitch the way he did in a game where we couldnt score lie kwe did for randy and the other guys was admirable, especially considering the rough personal week he had.

This one game gives me faith the Lidle can really be big for us if/when we get to the playoffs.

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
I agree that both starters looked very good today, but don't forget that both teams must have been exhausted by this point. I bet it was the easiest game of the five in which to pitch effectively.

Re: How about Cory Lidle?
This Just In:
After Cory Lidle's masterful pitching performance today at Fenway, he went into the clubhouse only to find that someone had parked a Mr. Softee truck in front of his locker.
Lidle, deciding to be a nice guy, ate a little, gave some to his teammates, and even drove around handing out ice cream to kids everywhere. In fact, the only kid he refused to give any to was Chris Russo. Now that we've clinched, there's only one thing I can say: let's not ................ this up.
