Tabata out for the year?
I just saw it posted on John Sickels site that Tabata is out for the year.
This both sucks and blows.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
This isn't good that he is hurt, but it is good that he gets the rest of the year off so he can regain his strength, and be ready for Tampa next year!!!

Re: Tabata out for the year?
The RiverDogs website says he was activated on August 4th. Unless something crazy went down since in the last two days seems to me like he's fine.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
Not because he wasn't hitting, it was because he never fully healed from his wrist injury, which can become a major problem if not treated properly.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
So then they must have just rushed him back. Let it heal on its own terms. Not because he wasn't hitting, it was because he never fully healed from his wrist injury, which can become a major problem if not treated properly.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
Correct, his 1st fully season was a success already, shut him down and get him ready for Tampa in '07.

Not a huge deal, he had nothing left to prove this year. Rest up, and get ready for next year.

It was the right decision, onto Tampa next season.
It's all Cashman's fault!

Re: Tabata out for the year?
The Yankees are being cautious with Tabata, just like they are with Hughes.
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag."

Re: Tabata out for the year?
It's the right decision. They'll rehab him at the complex and he's be fit for instructs.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
Yankees outfielder Jose Tabata had been on the disabled list since July 19 with a bruised thumb, and though he returned to action on Friday, the 17-year-old Venezuelan left Saturday's game after just one at-bat. Low Class A Charleston manager Pat Roessler removed Tabata from the game as a precaution after the thumb began bothering him during his first trip to the plate. Tabata, who is hitting .298/.377/.420 in 319 at-bats, is currently listed as day-to-day.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
S--t I didn't see this earlier. His numbers are damned good, I don't see why they just don't shut him down for the season and start him in Tampa next year. Think maybe he'll play every few games?

Re: Tabata out for the year?
When are instructs, late October? If so, I don't see a reason why after a 10-12 weeks of rest and rehab, he can't participate.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
The yankees want him to play in the VZL for winter ball instead. This year Jose will be playing in the highest league in VZL for the first time. We are all pretty excited about that.

Re: Tabata out for the year?
Hmm. I thought they might use the one exception to put him in the AFL...
