Re: Another team's prospects thread
Barnes was one of the only recent Sox draftpicks I've been unquestionably jealous of. He's got so much of what you'd want in an elite pitching prospect.
Jaret Wright's 2005 Cy Young Season: 20-3, 3.04 ERA

Re: Another team's prospects thread
It's been their MO recently with Ranaudo and now Barnes.
They start them in Greenville solely to get used to pitching on a 5 day rotation. Knowing they should dominate (and have) allows them to get acclimated to how to prepare on days 2-5 without fretting about results.
Ranaudo had 10 starts in Greenville last year before his bump to Salem. I would expect something similar with BarnesAh, dammit! I want pancakes! God, do you people understand every language except English? Yo quiero pancakes. Donnez moi pancakes. Click click, bloody click pancakes!

Will Middlebrooks is assaulting the International League.
Through 19 games he's at .375 with an OPS of 1.208.
8 hrs heading into today where he's hit another
With Youkilis struggling, it'll be interesting to see what the plan is if he keeps this upAh, dammit! I want pancakes! God, do you people understand every language except English? Yo quiero pancakes. Donnez moi pancakes. Click click, bloody click pancakes!

Re: Another team's prospects thread
It's only AA and he's 26, but Christian Garcia's line:
8
9 IP
3 H
1 ER
2 BB
12 K
1.00 ERA
3 SV
I always wondered why the Yanks didn't try him out of the pen.

Re: Another team's prospects thread
The Rays do make mistakes too in drafting and developing players.
Paul Severino@SeverinoMLB
MLB:#Rays Tim Beckham received a 50-game suspension after a second violation for a drug of abuse. He was the #1 overall pick in 2008.

Re: Another team's prospects thread
Looks like it wasn't for any performance enhancing drugs.
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
Beckhams suspension is for a recreational drug. Not a great week for rays No. 1 overall picks (delmon was another)

Re: Another team's prospects thread
Matt Barnes debut in High A Salem. 6 IP/4 hits/1 run/1 BB/12 k's. Damn.
And Jackie Bradley Jr needs to be promoted to Portland soon. His line on the season 366/488/538, 1.026 OPS, 22 walks, 17 k's, 11 steals and only been caught once. Also plays plus defense in CF, along with having a plus arm.

Re: Another team's prospects thread
Interesting read on Bundy and his long-toss program. I feel like the Red Sox made Dice K scrap his long-toss after he came over. Anyway, I would have Pineda, Campos, Joba, Banuelos doing this religiously.
