Burnett would be an 8th rounder.
Heilman an 18th rounder (but is a set-up man a keeper?)
Navarro would be a 12th rounder (but do you spend a keeper on a C?)


Tejada is unkeepable
Isringhausen is a 2nd round keeper (Unlikely)
Nathan is unkeepable
Piazza is an 8th round keeper (Unlikely)


So I see one keeper in the bunch -- Burnett.

Heilman might return to the rotation next year...there's no way anyone can say that he will. If he does, is he anything more than a #5 starter?

And Greene is the #15 scoring SS right now. I wouldn't use a 4th round keeper on a #15 anything, who isn't a OF, SP or RP. But that's just me...

Secondly, if 8 or more people object, you really should ask yourself if the deal was actually fair in the first place. You seem to get along with everyone in here so it is not like people are rejecting it on purpose because you are a jerk or something.

I think they are rejecting it because they fear the Plant. Anyway, it's in the commish's hands now, and going by past precedent and reasons for overturning, I'm still fairly confident it will go through.

Although if it doesn't it means I have no time to make any other trades, essentially.

....because this trade was ridiculously unfair. There I said it. I manned up to it - or Cowboyed up to it - I rarely vote against trades in this league but with this one and the Squeak/Wolvie deal I chose to. Regardless, I voted against it as the keepers you were getting couldn't wipe the asses of the guys you were giving up.

It's not like every trade goes to the commish's desk. As E pointed out to me a day ago - I made 8 trades so far this year. They all passed - I don't want to go tooting my own horn here but my trades ususally work out for both teams which is why they normally pass. This one does nothing for you Rob except land you Burnett with a bunch of other guys thrown in to make it look pretty. You are parting with your entire bullpen and the best SS in the league and a sweet assed C for a good SP (with injury problems in the past), a questionable RP, an average SS and a below average C.

I apologize for going off like this but don't start dissing everyone's judgement in here if 8 or more people can find fault with this deal. I have worked on a ton of deals with many of the GM's here and can tell you that the people in here don't operate like that. You guys should be working on a counter offer in case this one doesn't go through.

On another note - it is not the proper way to go about things by posting people's trade offers in here - you could lose some respect from your fellow GM's and you could also find it hard to trade with people in the future.

Hanley Ramirez & Ryan Shealy for Tejada and Peavy which is a hell of a lot better than the keepers you would be getting in your other 40 player deal but whatever like I said the trade only helps me by 7 points a week so it is useless for me to send you 2 good keepers for 35 points over the rest of the season.

I wasn't talking about our discussion. Ours was just that - a discussion that hopefully would have lead to a good trade.
