Re: The New York Mets Thread
How about those Mets?
About to beat Phillies 2 in a row. David Wright has a broken finger and was about to go on the DL, he wakes up today and decides he can deal with the pain after all. First at bat, home run. Goes 3 for 5 in the game. Neise 6.2 shutout innings, the Mets actually have a good rotation. Not much depth though, they can't afford any injuries

Re: The New York Mets Thread
What's up with Terry Collins? Is he suffering from early dementia or does he just have a low IQ? At his press conferences and when being interviewed, he struggles getting his words out and sometimes he just stops in the middle of a thought and starts rambling and mumbling incoherently, just to get through it. He looks extremely uncomfortable on camera with his facial ticks and tugging/picking at his sleeves and arms. It's very weird and uncomfortable to watch. If you're a Mets fan, he doesn't exactly instill much confidence. Thankfully, I'm not.

I don't know what you are talking about re: Collins. He's done a great job so far IMO and seems to handle the media pretty well. Vast improvement from the last few managers they've had.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Former Mets clubhouse manager Charlie Samuels was formally sentenced to five years’ probation Monday in Queens Criminal Court.
There has to be a much larger story here that will not see the light of day.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i-...#ixzz1sGhTceTdThe Mets fired Samuels in November of 2010, after the Daily News first reported that the long-time team employee — he started working for the Mets in 1976 — was gambling with mobbed-up bookies, made loans to himself using Mets’ accounts and stole millions of dollars in team memorabilia.
The News also reported that Samuels, who also served as the team’s traveling secretary, was suspended by the club in 2010 in the midst of an investigation into a gambling ring by the Queens DA’s office and the NYPD’s Organized Crime and Control Bureau.

I just saw this on another site. Can there be an uglier, tackier, cheesier exterior in the majors than Citi Field?

He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Mike Pelfrey likely out for the season with torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow (Tommy John surgery).
Mets should consider acquiring John Lannan or Chien-Ming Wang from the Nationals.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Just watched somebody rejoicing in the name of Jordany Valdespin hit a three run homer off of Papelbon ... apparently the kid's first big league hit.
It was tied 2-2 in the ninth ... now the Mets are ahead 5-2.
EDIT: Mets win!

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Ha,ha ! I love it ! The Mets have 2 outs & Papelbon gives up a double to put runners on 2nd & 3rd. Collins puts up a called-up minor leaguer without a major-league hit... who proceeds to smash a 3-run HR !!
Roger Maris = single season "natural" home-run record-holder.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Good to see Frank Francisco has brought his penchant for suck to a new league.
Rocking that "arrogant Yankee fan" attitude.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
On Sunday Frank Francisco was ejected for arguing in the bottom of the ninth. Yesterday D.J. Carrasco was ejected for hitting a Brewer and Manager Terry Collins took David Wright out of the game so he couldn't be thrown at as retaliation.
Later this season the Mets have a 29 game span with only 9 road games and 3 of them are at the Yankees.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
The Mets allowed Toronto's Rajai Davis to have his first career game with two home runs. The Mets lost 14-5. The game featured a whopping 15 walks, 8 by Mets batters, and both teams had more runs than hits.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
The Mets backup catcher Rob Johnson came into pitch the 8th...was the Mets most effective pitcher on the night retiring the side in order with 2 popups and a K.
In addition to Davis, Arencibia also hit 2 HRs... Thats 4 times this week a player has had 2 HRs in a game against the Mets. Travis Ishikawa and Todd Frazier being the other two.

R.A. Dickey struck out a career-high 11 tonight and the Mets lead 3-2.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Johan has a no-hitter through 8 innings tonight, and is bidding to finally become the first New York Met to throw a no-hitter.
One problem though: the Mets have him on a 110 pitch limit, with a max ceiling at 115 as he returns from shoulder surgery.
He's at 121 pitches through the 8th...Mo' Nut: One Smoove Brotha.
