Re: The New York Mets Thread
I don't know about that, he's got a sinker that reminds me of Wang. His performance yesterday was very similar to Wang when he is on. A ton of groundouts and double-plays. Just like Wang, when he mixes it up with a good slider, and an occasional change, he is going to be pretty tough to hit. The Mets as a whole are pitching over their heads right now, but the two guys who I think will carry that rotation for the rest of the year will be Johan and Pelfrey.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Mike Pelfrey named NL Player of the Week. After all he's been through, good to see him finally get some recognition.

When you simply must choke away a crucial win, accept no substitute.

El Duque left his rehab game after only 1 inning because of discomfort in his right foot.

One time, we got skunked by the Royals 4-zip at Kaufman. They were still the Royals, and the NL Least is still a weak league compared to the AL East. Of course, nothing is weaker than the NL West.

Pelfrey has now gotten knocked around by the last 3 decent hitting teams he has seen (Reds, Yankees, Angels.)

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Just when you thought we had something to complain about, up by 3 in the 9th, Sanchez leaves w/bases loaded, no outs. 2 RBI groundouts and 2 RBI doubles later, the 5-2 save becomes an 8-5 save situation the other way. Who else can mess up the must-win games like this?

Re: The New York Mets Thread
What do you expect from a team that doesn't even dress in sinc?! I saw a recap of the game
on Baseball Tonight and noticed that the players all have different t-shirts on under their uniforms. They look so tacky. P.S. I noticed that David Wright and I think Wagner didn't even take their hats off when introduced during The All Star Game. I know this is picayune stuff - but I love picking on The Mets - for anything!

The Phils are my National League fave so I'm lovin' this. My only regret is that Joe Benigno is on vacation ... but the FAN is still great radio after the Mets blow one like this.

Hey, they keep complaining that when we lose and they win, we get the back pages. Well ...

I just saw on the BBTN bottom line that Wilpon admitted that the Mets f***** up the Randolph firing.

Yeah, wasn't Omar all riled up insisting that the firing was his decision and wasn't forced by the Wilpons?

Re: The New York Mets Thread
Great game by Santana against the Cardinals. I'm not sure why so many fans left just because of a little rain instead of staying to see Santana finish the CG.

Im not so sure why they even let him get the CG.

Re: The New York Mets Thread
They used every single arm in the pen last night. If it went to the 15th, Oliver Perez was coming in. Theoretically they probably could have gotten a few outs out of Shoenweis or Feliciano, but having Johan go 9 took the sting out of his games against the Phillies and leaving so the pen could blow it.
