The Official "We're Doomed" Thread

I would call our rotation far from decent. We have one reasonably sure thing in CC. After that, a mixture of question marks and guaranteed suck. Nova is coming off a solid rookie season but now will be expected to carry the responsibility of a #2 starter on a team expected to win now, which is tremendous pressure and developmentally inappropriate for him. Burnett will be the AJ we've always known, only one year older and with diminishing stuff. His 2010 and 2011 campaigns will soon be looked upon as the good old days. Hughes has really never been consistently effective as a starter, both in terms of durability and stuff. Even in his 2010 season, which his supporters love to being up, was only good for the first half- at all other times, he has been mediocre at best and often atrocious. Garcia was surprisingly solid last season but at this time cannot be expected to be anything other than a 5th starter but I fear in this rotation he will be asked to do more.

Too many things have to miraculously spin just right for this to be a competitive rotation. The odds are poor.

If our rotation is just decent in 2012, that will be a far drop off from 2011 when our rotation was a strength. I'm allowing for a likely decreased output from Garcia and a leveling off of Nova. I do have hopes that Hughes will rebound from his 2011 season however.

I can't bring myself to have any confidence in Hughes as a starting pitcher.

Do I have confidence that he'll be a top of the rotation starter? Not much but I do think he can be a dependable 3.

The Yankee bats are doomed because they do not seem able to beat all the defensive shifts that the Rays are throwing at them. It's unreal how many times I've thought "base hit" these past two games only to see a Rays player standing right where the ball has been hit to.
