I saw Maz and Gator in DC

So on Saturday night I was walking to dinner in Georgetown and headed down M street past the Ritz-Carlton. As a stopped on the corner by the hotel's restaurant to pick up my phone, I looked into the window and saw none other than the Yankee's bench coach and pitching coach sitting down for a meal.

I stood there for a few seconds looking in to confirm that I was truly only a pane of glass away from half the coaching staff but then Maz shot me a rather annoyed look. He was in the middle of what looked like a heated exchange with Gator and probably didn't appreciate some guy staring at him.

I took the hint and kept on walking. While this is happening, the person who called me only heard a 'Hold on' and 20 seconds of silence.
After I had gotten a block away, I picked up the phone and apologized for leaving him hanging.
He asked "What was that?"
I responded "Lee Mazzilli and Ron Guidry"
Not being a sports fan, he responds with "Oh...friends from the office?"

He looked really irritated and I don't think it was solely because he was being gawked at.

Then again, blowing a 7 run lead will do that to you.

It must have been a product of the situation. I have met Maz a couple of times and he has always been very nice and pleasant.

That cracked me up ... I saw in the Washington Post earlier in the week that a few of the guys were spotted out at dinner ... Jeter, Giambi, Posada, I think there was one more ... and then ARod was spotted at a different restaurant. I'll have to see if I can find it now, just for the heck of it.
