What Percentage of MLB Players Are "On the Juice"?

What percentage of MLB players do you believe are currently on steroids, human growth hormone (HGH) or some similar performance enhancing drug?

We can speculate all we want, but how can we know? I just hope the day comes when we can 0 confidently. This is all ridiculous (not you, the whole culture around the game now)

Less than ten percent in the Majors.

Maybe as high as 25% in the minors though. Much greater incentive for a minor leaguer to take chances to make it to the majors than for a major leaguer to kill the goose by getting caught.

In my opinion, next to none. I expect many suspensions to be for minor leaguers using performance-enhancers trying to up their productivity in order to break into the big leagues.

I'd say somewhere near a quarter, all said and done.

MLB can't test for HGH under the current system, right? If so, I think the number is somewhere around 15% all HGH, just a pure guess.

I'd guess around 10-15%, including HGH

I think it's actually more than people expect. Companies are making more and more types of 'roids that will go undetected every day. It's probably not 100% or even 75%, but I think it's more than 25%

Probably because HGH isnt a steroid and theres nothing in it that isnt already naturally produced in your body. Its something more people use than you'd think and not just for enhanced strength.

Re: What Percentage of MLB Players Are "On the Juice"?

I must say that I am surprised so far that most fans seem to think a low percentage of MLB players are on the juice. The fact is that MLB does not test for human growth hormone, and that can only be detected through a blood test (which MLB does not require, for some reason).

Also designer steroids are almost certainly being taken, which cannot be detected through the urine tests.

I read Canseco's book, and I recall that he said that it would be difficult to find a star player who isn't juicing, and that players would always find a way to get around whatever "weak and toothless" testing program that MLB sets up. I cannot help but feel the current testing program of MLB is just as Canseco described.

No HGH test, no blood tests, how can fans know who is clean and who isn't?

What financial incentive does MLB have to expose the biggest stars and revenue producers in the game as steroid or HGH users, and as cheaters?

Doesn't it also improve vision and hand-eye coordination?

Re: What Percentage of MLB Players Are "On the Juice"?

HGH greatly improves vision and allows users to recover after work-outs much faster. A hypothetical user would likely see his walk totals increase and his ability to recognize good and bad pitches increase. He also would be able to increase muscle mass faster than other players because he would not have to wait as long between work outs.

Most players who have done steroids and admitted it have also admitted to using HGH.

But, of course, MLB doesn't test for HGH because it would involve a blood test, which is somehow deemed much more invasive than a urine test. That is true, of course, partiuclarly if you are living in Alice in Wonderland.

You don't think it more invasive to poke a needle into someone's arm and draw out 50 CCs of blood than force him to pee into a cup?
