Memorial Day means...WABC Rewound!

There's not a whole lot of things I'll get excited about these days when it comes to radio, but each Memorial Day, WABC Radio turns back the clock to the days when they were the Number One Top-40 station in the COUNTRY and pulls out all the old tapes for everyone to listen to.

WABC was the soundtrack of my childhood, and the reason why I got into radio in the first place. If there wasn't a Yankee game on, there was WABC. I did my homework to it every afternoon. It was always on in the car. You couldn't walk on the beach for more than 10 feet without hearing WABC. We'll never see anything like it again.

Holy cow - what a great likeup of old shows this year - Im GOING WILD!

So far it's been mostly tapes from the early-70s, which is exactly when I was listening to WABC 24/7. A real WOW kind of day!!

I listened for most of the afternoon, but I was disappointed they didn't play as many songs in a row as I thought they would. A lot of commercials and news. I would have liked to hear more retro commercials and news than stuff from now.

Unfotunately, the sponsors needed to be paid, too! I always tape the whole thing and edit out the "modern" commercials so that it flows together as it should.

Still, a great job this year...the 1968 Election Night tape was fascinating!
