A quality start for me would be not standing on the mound and whining when the ump didn't call a pitch that went over Jorge's head a strike.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
A quality start to me would be not giving up the lead promptly after the offense staked him to one. Whether it's 1, 2, 3, or even 5 runs, Randy has a knack for whittling away or just flat-out pissing away any lead the offense gives him.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
Lets just win.
Until he shows otherwise, I expect nothing out of Randy Johnson.
And with this lineup I don't expect that win either.
Also, the Mets were pretty much the only team that used to beat the ever loving crap out of Johnson, even when he was winning Cy Young year after year after year, when he was on the Diamondbacks.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
If he can get through the Mets lineup ONCE without giving up a run, I'd consider that a quality start.....

he'll give up 8 runs in 3 innings. Time to turn up the New York hysteria another notch.

If he can get through the first three hitters without giving up any runs, I would consider that a quality start.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
If he makes bats miss and his slider isn't so Goddamn flat I'll consider it a quality start. Fact is, we need to get a win tonight going against Jeremi Gonzalez.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
I just want to see him battle. Be aggressive with hitters, show some emotion. Enough of the hands up in the air, why me crap. I still think he is better than 85% of SP's in the majors. If he has to grind it or put it on cruise, progress from the last start will make me happy.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
6.2 innings, 3 earned runs and a successful sacrifice. That would be quality for him, considering he won't face a DH.
Let the kids play.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
I wish I could say I expect a positive outing, but I can't.
Wilbon: What is it specifically about Arod that guys like Schill and Trot Nixon just can't stand?
Kornheiser: He's better looking, he's cooler, he's got all the money. That's what they can't stand.

Randy Johnson standing at the plate is always an amusing sight.

I don't expect much from Randy.
But the great thing about sports--especially baseball--is when you watch, on any given day anything can happen.
I'm hoping for something.
Our rotation is dope.

Re: Randy Johnson tonight?
Yeah, even with the injuries in our lineup, if we get 6 innings of 3 run ball from RJ, there's no excuse for not beating Gonzalez.
