BJ Upton obviously isn't as bad as this year's stats suggest, but I think he's one of the most overrated players in baseball. He's a .240 hitter who's always good for at least a strikeout a game, and unlike Granderson, he's not powerful enough to make it "worth it." The contract the Braves gave him was just absurd.

I knew Matt Moore was talented but I did not expect him to be this dominant.

It's official! Pitchers playing catch with kids in the stands during batting practice is the hottest craze in baseball — sweeping the game faster than a team playing a three-game series with the Dodgers. (Sorry, Dodgers, but you have been swept three times in May).

Actually, it's a trend that started with those Los Angeles Dodgers, when Hyun-Jin Ryu played catch with a young fan named Deuce last week. Gio Gonzalez of the Washington Nationals was next to get caught on camera doing it. Now we find Bruce Chen of the Kansas City
Royals, who did it over the weekend when playing the Oakland Athletics.

Of course, the third time something happens it isn't as cool anymore. Just like with movies and Nas albums, the first one is still the best. But in this case, we'll point out two noteworthy things about Chen's effort: He's tossing the ball with A's fans, not Royals fans, which is a nice show of bi-partisan catch-playing. And he's playing with two kids, not just one.

This tell us it won't be long before the kids are lined up to play catch during batting practice like they line up for autographs.
Gio with a young fan in LA last week.

That GIF cut out too soon, cause Kinslers reaction was hilarious. He had one of those sheepish grins that said, "damn, I looked stupid, didn't I?"

Everyone knows that Votto is great. But I'm not sure people know he's that great.

    This season so far
    .358/.484/.545

    Since last year,
    696 PA, .344/.477/.560, 175 OPS+

    That OBP is sexy.

Tonight Baltimore had four pitchers allow at least 2 runs and at least 2 walks each. It was the 67th time since 1916 four or more teammates did that in a game. The record is five teammates, which was done twice (1962 and 1970).

    Pujols

    2008: 192 OPS+
    2009: 189 OPS+
    2010: 173 OPS+
    2011: 148 OPS+
    2012: 140 OPS+
    2013: 107 OPS+

It seems that his career trend will be similar to Big Hurt and people will view him as Big Hurt with a better glove when he called it a career.
