Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
So Trout is complaining about his contract. I wonder if giving him an extra 250K sets up some goodwill for later down the road when you want to lock him up longterm?

I know this guy isn't a household name but he also apparently broke the Melky suspension? Didn't create a thread for this til we get more details but...is anyone concerned? Is there cause for concern?

That could be but it's not like Cano, Braun, A-rod and Granderson just started producing out of nowhere...Melky was breaking out, these guys aren't new to this scene. Plus reporting one guy is one thing, reporting four is huge. It's fairly specific. If all four get nailed, we'll know he wasn't throwing a bunch of turds up at the wall to see what sticks.

"Of course."

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
They're saying that Carillo, the minor leaguer just suspended by MLB, didn't fail a drug test. It was just him being listed on the Biogenesis records that got him busted
Bet Braun and Arod and the others are sweating a bit
Of course, as a MiL'er he didn't have the union behind him, but still verrrrrry interesting

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
If Braun is about to be suspended why would they let him play in the WBC? He had to pass their drug test. It doesn't add up.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Unless and until Braun's suspended, he's not suspended and there's no grounds for keeping him out of the wbc. MLB may be investigating his involvement with biogenesis and moving towards a suspension, but until they're there, there's nothing to do. I don't think his participation reveals anything about the eventual results of mlb's investigation into the biogenesis situation.

Presumably. But Geovany Soto tested positive at the last one, and it wasn't announced until that June. (It was pot, not a PED, but it still resulted in a suspension from international play, just a suspension that didn't start until after the WBC was actually over).

Not exactly what most of us were expecting when Boston won that bidding war years ago. Kind of surprised he didn't go back to Japan rather than pitch in AAA.Daisuke Matsuzaka will report to Triple-A Columbus.
Dice-K was allowed to head back to the free agent market, but he has opted to remain in the Indians organization and will try to climb his way up to Cleveland this season. The 32-year-old right-hander signed a minor league contract with the Tribe in early February. He was told Monday -- along with reliever Matt Capps -- that he would not be on the Opening Day roster.Baseball is life;

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Any idea what the reception is like for guys who head back to Japan (for Japanese players)? Matsui seems to have preferred to hang on here rather than return. I don't know if it's a matter of money or pride or both. If I were a fan, I think I'd get tired to seeing my country's best players leave for the US, but from all accounts, they still follow and support players while they are here.
