No it wouldn't. It's in the CBA. It has nothing to do with jurisdiction--it's basically part of his work contract, if you want to look at it that way.

Not if it is the CBA. Guys get suspended all the time for taking "leagal" over the counter supplements that happens to have a banned substance in the CBA. If MJ is banned in the CBA he'd be out of luck even if legal in the state he took it.

That's why I said he would have been better off doing that.

Nope. The MLB drug agreement specifically covers marijuana. State law doesn't matter.

Not even in the private sector workforce.

I have seen jobs give a nicotine test which is legal anywhere. Its all up to the employer.

50 game suspension for cannabis is just plain stupid. Its about time people got over their irrational fear of the plant.

50 games for marijuana is hard to understand. Are we suggesting that pot is a performance-enhancing drug now?

That depends. It enhances your ability to be okay with being bored. If you play for Seattle or Houston ....

I can just imagine what it would be like to look at that bizarre "monument" the Marlins have after partaking in some illegal agriculture.

What's w/ the vesting option? I read a tweet that said vests is he finishes 12 games in 2 years- the other said 120 games in 2 years ????

I think it's 120. Heyman tweeted 12 initially and then followed it up with a tweet that was identical, but said 120 instead.

Thinking about it, if it was 12, there'd be no reason not to just make it a guaranteed third year.

I'm fine with this, i am glad Soriano opted out...saved us another year and way too much money for a guy who was originally signed to be a setup guy, especially with the bullpen arms we have already and on the way.
