He's back on the 40 man roster but the Giants are not going to reinstate him for the postseason.

Forget extended. He should have been fired for the fifth inning of the deciding game 5 loss in the NLDS. Grady Little had a quicker hook.

If Detroit wins the World Series, Miguel Cabrera will join Frank Robinson and Mickey Mantle as the only hitters to win a Triple Crown and World Series in the same season.

A's get Chris Young for Cliff Pennington and someone named Yordy Cabrera. DBacks flip Cabrera to Marlins for Heath Bell.

Why are you allowed to make trades during the playoffs?

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I think that sort of seals the deal that out of the whole roster who can be traded it looks like A-rod will probably be a Yankee in 2013.
Still and will always be a New England Patriots fan.

I don't understand how Young doesn't command a hell of a lot more than that. I imagine the Yankees would have given up more than that.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I suppose the A's won that but its hard to call them winners when their prize is a guy with a career OPS+ 95 and declining power numbers.
Then again, Beane's desire for power in that park they play in is a good strategy and couple that with the good defense he'll provide, I guess he is worth the 10 million the A's normally don't pay their players.Fistpumping like a champion.
