Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Has anybody else noticed the number of arm injuries the Ranger pitchers are having since Nolan Ryan was being talked about by the sports MSM as some kind of pitching guru? My point is that even though Ryan might know pitching, his method/strategy is still prone to pitching injuries just like any other baseball club.
It's all Cashman's fault!

This nugget almost does deserve its own thread...
After opening the season with a payroll of about $61 million, the Astros have jettisoned veterans earning a combined $49 million. Former Red Sox infielder Jed Lowrie, at $1.15 million, is Houston’s highest-paid player.

Jered Weaver's current winning percentage would be the third best all-time with at least 0.1 decisions per team game. It would be the best since Roy Face in 1959 which is the record. R.A. Dickey's current winning percentage would be tied for thirteenth all-time and would break David Cone's Mets record.

A's ship Kurt Suzuki and cash to the Nat's for A-ball catcher.
Not that exciting but I think with BArton in AAA that makes Cliff Pennington (on teh DL I think) the longest tenured A having made his debut for the Green & Gold way back in August 2008.
Maybe the Astros have a shorter tenured lonest tenured player?Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

What are the Odds?!
BJ & Justin Upton both hit their 100th career homeruns tonight, to put their respective teams up 1-0. They'd also hit their 99ths the same night....http://tracking.si.com/2012/08/04/bj...reer-home-run/He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.
