Our old buddy Carl Pavano said to be victim of extortion plot by male former classmate claiming they were sexually intimate:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...k_min&c_id=min
Right-hander Carl Pavano has been targeted by an extortion plot involving a former high school classmate, his family told the Record-Journal of Meriden. Pavano's family told police that Christian Bedard, 36, of Southington, Conn., tried to extort money and a luxury SUV from Pavano by threatening to publicly reveal a three-year "emotional and physical relationship" the two had while attending Southington High School.
Southington police seized a laptop and journal from Bedard's home last week but have not charged him. Pavano's sister told the newspaper that Bedard's claims are false.Rocking that "arrogant Yankee fan" attitude.

And from the soon to collect Social Security benefits department:
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/nightly-n...0678/#46910504
NBC news has learned the Colorado Rockies are expected to announce today that 49-year-old Jamie Moyer will be named to the team's starting roster. The left-hander will then take a shot at history, pitching in the first weekend of the baseball season at 49, if he wins, he'll be the oldest pitcher ever to win a major league game. He made his debut in 1986, when many of his teammates were not born.

Good to see a smaller market team pay their superstar for once. Also, he wont be going to the Blue Jays.

In other Reds news...wtf?
http://rotoworld.com/player/mlb/5757/aroldis-chapman
https://twitter.com/#!/johnfayman/st...57322159681537Reds manager Dusty Baker announced Monday that Aroldis Chapman will pitch out of the bullpen this year.
Chapman did all he could this spring to convince the Reds that he's ready to be a starter, posting a 2.12 ERA and 18/2 K/BB ratio in 17 Cactus League innings. But Baker told reporters Monday that he wants to have a reliable left-hander in the bullpen, and Bill Bray hasn't been cutting it.
Baker: "He's a starter, a very good starter. But Billy Bray isn't ready to be late-inning lefty right now."

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I keep reading/hearing that there was a lot of chirping going on in the press between Jimenez and Tulo but I haven't seen an actual quote other than Jimenez saying something to the effect that he's much happier in Cleveland. That doesn't exactly strike me as fighting words. Anyone know what exactly was said leading up to this incident?

So let's see, David Price injured his neck toweling off; now Outman injures himself vomiting, what's next? This one gives new meaning to the term “hurler.”
Colorado Rockies pitcher Josh Outman - acquired from the Oakland A’s this offseason - was expected to start the year pitching out of the team’s bullpen.
Instead, he will begin it on the disabled list. The left-hander vomitted so violently after a bout with food poisoning, he strained his oblique.
(No trampoline jokes please.)
