Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/m...ory?id=5752715"I think our fans have been great," Greenberg said on the "Ben and Skin Show" on 103.3 KESN. "I think particularly in Game 3 of the World Series they just blew away anything I've seen in any venue during the postseason, I thought Yankee fans, frankly, were awful. They were either violent or apathetic, neither of which is good. So I thought Yankee fans were by far the worst of any I've seen in the postseason. I thought they were an embarrassment."
It's open season on Yankee fans in Texas.

Translation: "Cliff! They spit on your wife! They won't care about you or your family like we will! They're dead-eyed doosh nozzle's who'll mug you and dump you in the Hudson! Pweeeaaase stay in Texas where our fans will cheer you on to a 30-0 season on the strength of their viral enthusiasm, and then blow you for good measure!"
Talk about embarassing.

Sparky Anderson is receiving home hospice care, as he suffers from complications from demetia. Sad to hear that he's in failing health, especially at a relatively early age (76), unfortunately such is life. I hope he's made as comfortable as possible.
It's now being reported that he has passed away. RIP.

NL Gold Gloves!:
P: Bronson Arroyo
C: Yadier Molina
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brandon Phillips
SS: Troy Tulowitzki
3B: Scott Rolen
OF: Shane Victorino
OF: Michael Bourn
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
excellent selections, IMO. you can beef about the OFers a bit, and Rolen over Zimmerman, but generally very good picks.

I definitely would've given it to Zimmerman over Rolen.

The San Diego Padres don't have a single player under contract beyond the 2011 season. In fact they only have one player under contract for 2011 and that's Adrian Gonzalez at a ridiculously low $5.5 million. Can someone please tell me why they fired Kevin Towers.

Uggla to ATL for Infante and the everlasting Mike Dunn. Definitely like the deal for the Braves.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I recall they offered him 4/48, or $12 a year for 4 years. That is an incredibly team friendly extension. They are saving 3-4 million a year on that deal. They got nothing for him, nothing. I said that the Marlins were better off taking the draft picks for Cabrera/Willis, but that's hindsight. This is pretty obvious. There's no way some team couldn't beat that offer. The Yankees should have called and tried to get in a three way (ha!) with this.
