Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Oh I'm not saying they should be assholes about it, I am just a little shocked. Like I said usually they turn around and just go about their business and don;t take their concentration from the game. I have rarely ever seen this before and it happened twice in two days. Strasburg is a kid and I can see him acting like he did hitting a veteran in the head. In fact he appeared shaken up for a while after hitting Scutaro. But that shot of Dickey apologizing to A-Rod was something I don't recall ever seeing. I just found it odd, but nothing wrong with it.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Yeah, the actual "sorry" was something I don't remember seeing before either, especially on a pitch that didn't hit the guy. But pitchers/catchers at times are quick to say they didn't mean it (though sometimes they are lying) to diffuse a situation if a hitter is angry by a HBP...so maybe the sorry isn't much different from that

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
When I first caught the end of this on Sport Center this morning, I thought it was a blooper - like he lost his footing and just decided to roll off the mound. After the second roll, I realized he planned it. The Wizard he ain't.

Something tells me we're seeing a new trend in exits by closers - like the choreographed TD celebrations in the end zone. I can do without both.September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.

Yeah what Chapman did was silly. Stupid but silly. And someone may get drilled for it soon. However Valverde pounds on his chest like some gorilla and screams and is just over the top. I hate to be hypocritical but there is a line. Silliness and over the top are different. Like Swisher, he is silly too I can only laugh.

I'll never criticize someone for not taking himself seriously.

Agree about Valverde. ^^
Just guessing -- Chapman had just broken out of a string of carpy games. Maybe that had something to do with his somersaults? Or maybe he's superstitious and proclaimed before the game that he'd do it. With ballplayers, ya never know...He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

By the Reds taking care of it internally there won't be any repercussions from the other team regarding Chapman's antics.
It's all Cashman's fault!

This is crazy!
http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/s...ancisco-giantsBut of even greater historical significance, it was the first time in the entire history of the Dodgers--whether in Brooklyn dating back to the 19th century or in LA since 1957--that the team failed to score in a series of three or more games.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I didn't hear about Scherzer's brother:
Tonight's start in Tampa Bay could be tough for Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer. It has been one week since the death of his 24-year-old brother, Alex. It can't be any tougher than his start Saturday, which came two days after Alex's death.yikes. I wonder what happened. suicide?Scherzer declined to discuss the circumstances of his brother's death other than to say it came with "no signs at all."

just saw another article that it was suicide. I can't imagine pitching while grieving this...his statement about his brother in this article gave me the chills.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
Typically speaking, when young people die and they say it was "sudden," it's suicide. Accidents get explained, and 24-year-olds don't usually die suddenly of natural causes.
