That's a pretty good deal for the Redbirds.

Now, Mike Matheny has flexibility in the lineup with three switch-hitters: Carlos Beltran (if and when he's healthy), Rafael Furcal and Lance Berkman.

Then, throw in Adam Wainwright back in the rotation with Chris Carpenter, Jaime Garcia, Jake Westbrook and Kyle Lohse, that's a good rotation.

I won't be surprised if the Cardinals become the first team other than the Yankees to win 2+ straight world titles if they repeat in 2012.

The White Sox lost - basically, they gave away Quentin for nothing - but I'm not sure what the Padres won. Now, instead of being a really terrible baseball team, they're a really terrible baseball team with Carlos Quentin for one year.
