PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick had his 2008 World Series championship ring stolen from his Mount Vernon, Wash., home last week.
Mount Vernon police said in a news release that Kendrick's home was burglarized between March 26 and 27. Police believe the thieves defeated a locked door and spent "considerable time loading up home electronics and other valuables." Those valuables included Kendrick's World Series ring and other baseball memorabilia, including a signed and framed Ken Griffey Jr. jersey.
That seriously does suck for him. I hope they find the stuff and bring it back, especially his ring.

That beating on Giant fan Bryan Stow brought me back bad memories to 2003 when a Dodger fan shot and killed a Giant fan, Marc Antenorcruz.

It's not just Giants-Dodgers. It's also Yankees-Red Sox too including Yankee fan Ivonne Hernandez ran over Red Sox fan Matthew Beaudoin in a rivalry dispute.

It happens in all heated rivalries in all sports. It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.

If you're physically attacking someone for their fandom...you need to reevaluate your life.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I've gone to a Yankees game at Safeco Field every year and have never even been razzed despite being decked out in Yankees gear and they hate the Yankees out here. Have any of you guys ever felt physically threatened at a ballgame? I just have a difficult time imagining that this is a growing trend like the media is making this out to be.

My family moved from NJ to NH when I was younger, and we're all Yanks fans (obviously) and none of us have felt threatened... Obviously you get comments, but I think if you are able to joke about it and be a good sport then its all good. There are definitely some nuts out there, but I don't think its a huuuge problem. And of course, it probably depends where you are/if there's booze involved

The top 10 new concessions at MLB ballparks
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big...urn=mlb-wp2390
Click the link for descriptions of most of these, but I think #8 deserves to have it's description trumpeted:In no particular order, here are the top 10 new concessions that baseball fans can order around the big leagues in 2011:
1. Pulled Pork and Pierogi Stacker, PNC Park, Pittsburgh
2. Red White and Blue Steak Sandwich, Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati
3. Racing Sausage Kabobs, Miller Park, Milwaukee
4. Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes, Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
5. Steamed bun and Thai salad, AT&T Park, San Francisco
6. Vienna Beef hot dogs, Wrigley Field, Chicago
7. Danny Meyer's Genius, Nationals Park, Washington
8. Bacon-wrapped BBQ Dog, Busch Stadium, St. Louis
9. Walk a Taco, Target Field, Minnesota
10. Doyer Dog, Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles
OMG. Does that come with a coupon for an angioplasty? This creature is a true paean to calories, fat and cholesterol. Only in Missouri would it make perfect sense to wrap a hot dog in fatty bacon and smother the whole thing with baked beans and tangy barbecue sauce.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
I'm reading that the guy that was beaten at Dodgers Stadium may have brain damage. I feel like throwing up after reading the article. It's difficult to believe someone can be that much of an asshole that he'd beat the living sh*t out of someone who roots for a different team. I hope they throw the bastard in jail for doing that.....and I hope the guy is going to be ok.

Re: Interesting Baseball News Items That Do Not Warrant Their Own Thread
- I'm not exactly svelte, but the 3 times I've been at Cardinal games I was pretty impressed by the size of those people. I'm pretty convinced that the seats at Busch have to be the widest in the game.
- Topic I really wanted to post on: at today's Yankees-Twins game umpire Tony Randazzo was wearing gloves toward off the cold and YES focused on him because he had a second pair in his back pocket. When they zoomed in you could see that the gloves had an NFL logo on them.
- As to the Dodger Stadium violence: I lived in LA for 15 years, left in 1992. Never felt any problem then, but attended my first game back a couple of years ago and it was very obvious that their fan base has changed for the worse. Look at the map: Dodger Stadium is basically at the intersection of South Central and East LA. They have bins at the gates now so you can check your AK-47's on the way in. And to think that O'Malley left Brooklyn because of the nature of the fan base there.
Mays played baseball. Mantle was baseball.
