Korea just won the Asian Game baseball title. Which means that Shin Soo Choo is now free of his military obligations. Good for Indians fans

Japanese team paying players based on performance. hey its one way to keep from risky contracts. Would never fly here in the US though
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

What's the connection between winning that and Choo being freed of military obligations?

The Korean gov't dangled military deferments for winning the Asian Cup.

It was an offer he was made by the powers that be. Play in the Asian Games and play a part in winning the Gold and he would get an exemption. Weird but true.

Pitchers get a million yen (about $12,000) per win, while position players get 100,000 yen ($1,200) per hit.
By this genius system, Melky would've been paid more in 2008 than Gardner would have in 2010.
---And in 2007, Cano more than A-Rod.

CLEVELAND -- Hall of Famer Bob Feller's continued battle with leukemia has led to another hospital stay, this time because of a bout with pneumonia.

Feller, who turned 92 earlier this month, has been in the Cleveland Clinic the past week getting treatment for pneumonia, according to Indians vice president of public relations Bob DiBiasio, and is said to be getting stronger.
I hope he can recover from this.

Wow, what a very sad story. It sounds like alcohol played a part in why he "fell" off the cliff too. Very sad....

*this part, for example, is ridiculous:

Eighty years ago, 50 years ago, a man would walk up to another man and go in for loan. He'd extend his hand, he'd shake it and he'd look at the man and he'd say, "I'll pay this back." He would do it. You couldn't even ... to even mention that [scenario] today ... is that a cartoon fantasy? That's how far we are removed.
