Proctor pitching the 9th
I figure I'd start this thread. Why is Joe Torre pitching Scott Proctor in a tie ball game when Kyle Farnsworth looked great on those 2 batters? We also have a guy named Mariano if need be
. 2nd game of the season but that was pretty awful to stay up and watch. I'm glad Proctor had a good spring but why is he in this ball game?
THOUGHTS ON THIS MOVE?

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
most retarded move ever. farnsworth should've pitched the inning. if not proctor, where was grand tanyon? where was ron villone? how is scott proctor, the guy who gave up about 53 games last year, the choice? i know sometimes torre gains a guy's trust, but what the ................ has proctor EVER done to earn his trust? why do we keep using this ................ing bum? release him already.

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
Well, I'm figuring that Tanyon and Villone were out of the question since they pitched yesterday. Farnsworth was the most logical choice to come back out, but hey, you live you learn (hopefully

Not Torre. He didn't learn when Weaver he brought in Weaver in a tie game in 2003 during the WS. He won't learn now.

It's a move that makes absolutely no sense, what so ever.
Thus, that's why Clueless Joe did it.

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
That was one of the most idiotic moves ever. First, they said they were gonna make him a starter, so why the ................ is he in the pen? Second, his daughter had heart surgery today, I wouldn't expect the guy's mind to be completely focussed on the game. Third, he failed in the same bottom of the 9th, 10th etc. situation last season. Fourth, Farnsworth only threw 10 pitches. Why the hell was he in there?

I have a feeling this is just the beginning with Joe. It's amazing he never learns from his mistakes.

Let's hope we live and learn. I don't want to be giving away games this year. We dedicated an entire offseason to improving the bullpen and Scott Proctor is in there with the game on the line.

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
This was a very bad move. I was listening to the game and i told my roommate that Farnsworth should AT LEAST pitch another inning before we think about bringing anyone else into the game. Sterling mentioned the weather (cold) being a possible factor for Torre taking Kyle out.

i dont care how good the offense is.
we cant give away games.
last year were were lucky.
we cant dig that big a hole and expect to come out of it. this is an old team.
every player has been saying they need to get off to a good start and it's the manager who puts a damper in that plan.I'm NO american born confused desi, but i love my yanks!

Farnsworth should've stayed in or Sturtze should've gone in. Not a guy who only God knows where his mind is right now.

Can we make the managerial decisions here online through a panel and text message Jeter to call them out during the games?

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
Horrible move by Torre, but a major league pitcher has no excuse for not knowing where the strike zone is. Proctor is a useless tool and he needs to be demoted and/or released immediately. He effing sucks and has NEVER done a single thing to warrant this blind trust that some people have in him.

For whatever reason, it just doesn't work for him. I am not sure what place he will have on this team (although Carl could help him out there), I just wish he would be able to work toward his strengths.

Re: Proctor pitching the 9th
I DO think this was foolish move, esp. considering we are talking about Proctor and what he's recently gone through with his daughter.
But, there is some "logic" to what Joe did: Tanyon and Ron pitched yesterday and Joe is trying to save the pen. After Milton Bradley, the bottom three of the lineup are coming up and rain is falling. So Joe thought let me try to slip Proctor in here and see if I can get away with it.
I don't agree w/ it, but it's really not as crazy as it sounds. Well except for the fact that Proctor's head was probably elsewhere... and even when it isn't he doesn't have a great track record in situations like this. It's our game, the American game... and a blessing to us. --Walt Whitman
