Re: What's on the menu this evening?
Yeah, I don't know why it's gotten so big around here. Some parties are not so extravagant, but some are and it's ridiculous.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?
Swordfish (for hubby and kids) and salmon (for me)....mushroom and pea risotto except I didn't have the mushrooms and peas so I had to send the husband to the store to get some. The trade off is he stops at his pals house for a few beers. Compromise ya know?

Flounder stuffed with crab meat, baked potato and salad

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I need to be.

I have leftover salmon so I will serve that. With it I am making a Blood Orange and Arugula Salad I found a recipe for. I have lot of blood oranges to get rid of. I will also make brown rice.

Ballrooms? For a 16th birthday party? Good grief! I wouldn't pay for a place like that for a wedding! If my kids asked for that I'd laugh in their faces.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?
This mushroom/pea risotto I made is reallllllly good. I went digging through one of my cookbooks and found the recipe. I'll definitely make it again. It was very easy. For the salmon, I chopped tomatoes and onions and put s&p on top.......should be ready in a few.

You make that all yourself or did you buy it? BTW, salad can be anything. What's in there?

I second that, whole wheat pasta is the only pasta I eat. With the exception of the ravioli I had last night and today.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?
Someone asked me to host one of these between Thanksgiving and Christmas which was much too hectic so I couldn't do it. Maybe I should get back in touch with her.

I went to one of those parties about 1 1/2 years ago. The only thing that kept me from ordering a ton of stuff was that it's pretty pricey! Good stuff, though. I remember that I bought the Cinnamon Muffin Melt Mix. Damn, it was wonderful!!

Re: What's on the menu this evening?
Mmmm. I just took brownies out of the oven. Had one topped off with some vanilla ice cream and chopped walnuts so I guess that's my dinner.

Re: What's on the menu this evening?
I would host one, but my kitchen is in a state of being renovated still, plus between my dog and two cats, I don't know where I'd keep them all out of the way
