Yeah, I don't know why it's gotten so big around here. Some parties are not so extravagant, but some are and it's ridiculous.

I don't know anything about this place we're going tonight. Another friend said she heard it was more like a casual restaurant. Well, I looked it up online and it's a wedding hall basically with 2 ballrooms overlooking the Hudson. This isn't a cheap party, I'm sure.

Swordfish (for hubby and kids) and salmon (for me)....mushroom and pea risotto except I didn't have the mushrooms and peas so I had to send the husband to the store to get some. The trade off is he stops at his pals house for a few beers. Compromise ya know?

I have leftover salmon so I will serve that. With it I am making a Blood Orange and Arugula Salad I found a recipe for. I have lot of blood oranges to get rid of. I will also make brown rice.

Ballrooms? For a 16th birthday party? Good grief! I wouldn't pay for a place like that for a wedding! If my kids asked for that I'd laugh in their faces.

Dinner...I don't know yet. I need to go to the stinkin' grocery store. I've got nothing here, damn it.

This mushroom/pea risotto I made is reallllllly good. I went digging through one of my cookbooks and found the recipe. I'll definitely make it again. It was very easy. For the salmon, I chopped tomatoes and onions and put s&p on top.......should be ready in a few.

You make that all yourself or did you buy it? BTW, salad can be anything. What's in there?

I second that, whole wheat pasta is the only pasta I eat. With the exception of the ravioli I had last night and today.

I went to one of these last night. Spent $90. That stuff is amazing!

I got the 3-pack of the beer bread, the almond pound cake (which the host made with applesauce instead of butter and it was to freaking DIE for), the vanilla bean smoothie stuff, the Si Si Cilantro spice, the Rockin Chipotle, and a Spinach dip. I truly could have easily bought everything on the order form.

Someone asked me to host one of these between Thanksgiving and Christmas which was much too hectic so I couldn't do it. Maybe I should get back in touch with her.

I went to one of those parties about 1 1/2 years ago. The only thing that kept me from ordering a ton of stuff was that it's pretty pricey! Good stuff, though. I remember that I bought the Cinnamon Muffin Melt Mix. Damn, it was wonderful!!

Mmmm. I just took brownies out of the oven. Had one topped off with some vanilla ice cream and chopped walnuts so I guess that's my dinner.

    Brownies

Do your brownies have anything...uh, different in them?

I would host one, but my kitchen is in a state of being renovated still, plus between my dog and two cats, I don't know where I'd keep them all out of the way

Beer bread Best stuff ever. I've been buying since 2003. My party was in February so there was no new stuff like the smoothie, Si Si Cilantro or Rockin' Chipotle. Someone that came to my party is having one so I'll look forward to checking it out there.
