PGA Tour Thread 2006
The 2006 PGA Tour season is finally upon us. Primetime golf begins tonight and watching the pros play in Hawaii this time of year is always torture.
The complete PGA Tour schedule:
http://www.pga.com/tournaments/schedules/pga-tour.cfm
I have also created a Fantasy Golf League for members of the forum that may be interested.
http://golf.fantasysports.yahoo.com/golf
Go to Join Group, then Join an existing group. League ID number is 1502 and the password is yankees.
Fantasy season starts Feb. 2nd for the TPC at Scottdale.
I look forward to discussions about anything golf in 2006."A Humble Man of Grace and Dignity. A Captain Who Led by Example. Proud of the Pinstripes Tradition and Dedicated to the Pursuit of Excellence. A Yankee Forever." - Don Mattingly's Plaque in Monument Park

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
The PGA Tour season is too long! It seems like they never take a break with all the skins games etc at the end of the year. I love Golf, but they need to tweek the schedule.

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Great I've always wanted to play in a golf fantasy league. Thanks for setting it up. I'll be at the B.C. Open in Endicott in July, if anyone is interested in seeing the stars of tomorrow on display. 2 years ago, the Walrus Craig Stadler won it, and last year he was in contention again on the last day. Great tournament and a fun course to walk and see the players.

Thanks Robby, I look forward to playing. While Yahoo season doesn't start for a month, my gambling league starts this week. I'm interested in your picks for the Mercedes.

ESPN's gotta be royally pissed that Tiger won't be there for the prime time Mercedes.

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Tiger has a multimillion dollar deal with Disney that requires his participation in several of the events that they televise. I guess that they thought that the small field and big purse in the mercedes would be enough to get him there.

Stuart Appleby, Bart Bryant, and Vijay.
Stuart is two-time defending Champion. And I think Bryant carries over his Tour Championship performance."A Humble Man of Grace and Dignity. A Captain Who Led by Example. Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Appleby three-peats as champion of the Mercedes. Calls this win "more awesomer" than the other two.
I hope you took my advice there Hans...
Appleby - 1st
Vijay - 2nd
Bryant - 8th"A Humble Man of Grace and Dignity. A Captain Who Led by Example. Proud of the Pinstripes Tradition and Dedicated to the Pursuit of Excellence. A Yankee Forever." - Don Mattingly's Plaque in Monument Park

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Due to my second place finish in 2005, I had the second to last pick. I really don't want to discuss who I ended up with.

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Great marketing idea:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
Even people who don't follow golf will have some incentive to cheer for Tiger Woods this year. Every time he wins a 2006 PGA Tour event this season, General Motors Corp.'s Buick Division will give away a Buick Lucerne CXS luxury sedan driven by Woods to, from and during that tournament.

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
It is a good promotion. My suggested tweek; why not give away one for every tournament that he plays? He'll probably win 5 while only playing 17-20, so why not up the ante?

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Nice win for Tiger yesterday. He certainly didn't have his "A" game, but did enough to get it done.
It was nice to see some no names stay near the top of the leaderboard, along with the regulars.
What happened to Sergio?? Just looked awful during a few stretches. Left as well, 3 putted a few times.
It was nice to have something to watch, during one of the most boring TV weekends of the year.

Welcome Yahoo Fantasy Players. Some of you may not know that there is an easy way to follow your players here:

The leaderbord can be customized to make it easier to follow your players.

Re: PGA Tour Thread 2006
Dumb move No#1 for 2006. I switched out Verplank in favor of Cink as a reserve with about ten minutes to go before the deadline last night.
At this point, none of my reserves will break par.

Jesus...look at Baskum's Birdies
A: Phil -2 thru 14
B1: Steve Lowery -7 thru 15
B2: Justin Leonard -1 thru 10 - imagine if he took Verplank who is -3 thru 12
C: Calcavecchia who has yet to tee of...thank God he didn't activate Justin Rose who is -5 thru 14.
nice start for him...i'm doing just ok

This is fun though, I've played just about every fantasy sport except golf...well i haven't touched nascar and don't plan on it.
I follow golf casually and know enough about it from working at a golf course for 4 years as a teen.
