Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
A-Rod - Cost us Game 2, did nothing at the plate, probably cost us tonight's game also.
RJ - Blew the biggest game of the season (Game 3).
Matsui - Did Less than Nothing at the plate, made final out.
Sheffield - Couldn't play defense or hit.
Mussina - Sucked in Game 5.
Bernie - Dead at the plate, may have cost us Game 3 when he didn't catch the bloop or the Figgins hit

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
You can't single out one guy for the loss. It was a group effort of the guys listed above. The Umps get an honorable mention too.

There is plenty of blame to go around, starting with the top and going all the way down...

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
No Defense. Our weak offensive output was good enough to win if we catch the ball.
Andy Pettitte starts Game 2.

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
The FO. Cashman did and Torre did the best they could with the parade of players this season, but the fact remains that this team was full of holes from day one.
Example: the outfield.... How much did that haunt us tonight??"We have the most money, there's no secret about that. If you combine that with the best decision-making process on a consistent basis, then God help the rest of baseball." B. Cashman

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
They all sucked. I think A-Rod's DP in the 9th might have been the biggest stab in the gut for me but that was just one of many dreary moments.

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
A-Rod's drop in game 2 swung the momentum cuz that runner came around to score and tie the game. Not to mention all the runners he left on base this series and finished 2-15 with 0 HR's and 0 RBI's. I hate to say it cuz I like A-Rod but he's a reg season MVP and a playoff choke artist. Anyone can get 2 hits in 5 games.

Mussina did not suck in Game 5. Did you watch what happened?

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
Our big stinking choke of a 3rd baseman deserves as much blame as anyone. If there is a god, Ortiz will somehow get the MVP, so we can stop hearing about how great A-Rod is. As much as we liked to pretend during the year, he was the last person at least I'd want to see up in a big situation. Waste of oxygen

RJ ......... had he pitch a decent game, there would not have been a game 5.

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
ARod. All his MVP votes should be revoked and given to Ortiz. Even though Ortiz is a DH, at least he can't hurt his team in the field the way ARod did this series.
That said, I don't ever want to see Mussina pitching a big game for the Yankees again. Walking Steve Freaking Finley with a 3-2 curveball to set up the Kennedy triple was unforgivable. I can't wait to hear his excuses...long layoff between innings, softly hit balls....whatever. He was handed the lead and blew it immediately.

Seriously, we should have won this thing in 4 games. The worst part is that we probably won't be making many changes in the offseason, which means we're stuck with this crap for another year.

Thye Yankees lost the ALDS. No one else. The Yankees lost it.
No one is to blame. The Yankees did not get it done.

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
The only position players that I hold above criticism are Giambi and Cano. Pitchers I hold above is Chacon and Leiter and Mo. A-Rod did nothing but to single him out when our offense stunk as a whole is unfair. And when he made the error (yes was a major part of it) the score was still 2-1 Yanks with 2 outs in game 2. To blame him solely for game 2 is absurd.

I voted A-Rod. If he weren't such a marquee player, it might have been different, but his numbers in this series were totally unacceptable.
Remind anyone of his play in games Four, Five, Six and Seven in the ALCS last year?
If he had even STRUCK OUT in his last at bat ... we might still be playing.

Re: Who Is Most to Blame for this Loss?
It was a dumb walk, but if you recall, the triple could have been caught by 2 people had they been able to hear each other call the other off.
