Visitor's clubhouse damaged during weekend series
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services
The Giants are billing the Mets $4,000 for damage to the Pac Bell Park visiting clubhouse during San Francisco's three-game sweep this weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting.
After a 3-2 loss in 10 innings Friday night, damage was inflicted to the bat rack, the dugout roof, a clubhouse heating panel, a phone line, two doors, a bathroom stall divider and a paper-towel dispenser.
The Giants notified the Mets that an invoice will be sent in the next few days.
The Chronicle reported that reliever Armando Benitez was believed to be involved in the rampage. He gave up Benito Santiago's game-winning hit.
The Mets are 14-23 after playing in the World Series last season.
"It's not a shock. It happens," said senior vice president of ballpark operations Jorge Costa, who would not reveal which players were involved. "People get frustrated and manifest their frustrations in different ways."
Costa said everything will be fixed before the next game at Pac Bell, May 24 against the Rockies.

Well, let's hope that's the only thing Benitez was beating up. What a bunch of idiots. The culprates should also be fined and suspended in my view.

Do you think Benitez the punk beats up his girlfriend every time he blows a game? I wouldn't want to be her when he gets home!

I'm not sure how many get it Ansky - the Salem commercials are about 35 years old and a lot of forumers are younger than that.

Poor guys. On top of all their problems, the get swept and had to shower up in a brand spanking new stadium that puts their toilet bowl to shame. Last year's success don't quite make up for that.
I can feel their pain.

I suppose it's better for them to get their frustrations out before thier flight back to NY. Imagine trashing an airplane?

Oh I am so shocked that Benitez (who seems to have been the prime culprit, I read some other Mets were rather ticked at the behavior) would engage in such immature behavior!
Letting out your frustrations is one thing (hi Paulie), but $4000 worth? Who does Benitez think he is, a rock star? Seems the guy just refuses to grow up.
It seems to me that many Yankee fans admire the Yankee players for their classy, mature personalities and look up to them. But many Mets fans like the Mets club as it is now because it has elements of immaturity and "New Yawk" attitude, they see the players as "regular guys" because of it. A different kind of fan demographic.

The Mets....these guys need to get a clue.
Although, this episode would make for a great mastercard commerical::
1.) Earplugs to block out obscenity spewing manager: $8
2.) Losing the biggest game of the year to your cross town rivals: $4 million
3.) Having enough cash to bail out your best closer from jail: Priceless
..........For everything else theres mastercard
