    Super-subtle omission from Peter Gammons

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=2055896

There is a chart half way down the article displaying each teams ability to get the runner in from third with no outs.

Can you find the Red Sox on that chart? I can't.

If this was intentional, Peter Gammons was clever enough to omit the Colorado Rockies to make the chart appear accurate with an even number of teams displayed.

By the way, notice who is at the top of the chart. GO YANKS!

I did notice that the Yankees were at the top of that chart. But it hasn't helped them much so far ... has it?

It's obviously highly correlated with winning percentage.

While the Red Sox are not on the list, we can deduct from the preceeding text that they are above .500.

"Several scouting directors believe that either Stephen Drew or Jered Weaver will have a predraft deal cut with the Yankees, who have the 17th pick in the first round."
    Interesting...

but it is coming from Gammons.

The Yankees have also had pitching/defense problems which would not be shown on this chart. But if only Boone could have gotten the run home in game 4 2003 World Series....
