Re: Great Yankee photos

Original caption (1966): Rookie shortstop Bobby Murcer (C), of the New York Yankees, is kidded by teammates Mickey Mantle, (L) and Roger Maris over his shirt which features pictures and signatures of the two veteran sluggers. It was all part of fun and games at Yankee Stadium, as the Yanks had last practice before the start of the season on April 12th. Although the Yankee lineup will feature no rookies opening day, the highly touted Murcer is expected to crack it before too long.

Original caption (9/24/69): Boston: Yanks' Bobby Murcer (2nd, L) is restrained by teammate Thurman Munson as he tries to get at Bosox catcher Tom Satriano (R) 4th inning fight, night game, Fenway Park. Murcer thought Satriano tagged him too hard when he was put out at plate on hit by Frank Fernandez to Bosox LF Joe Lahoud who threw to plate for out. Both teams came on field, but fight was over quickly. Plate umpire Merel Anthony (rear, R).

Babe, I'll start a thread for you, since you'll probably need quite a few more than you have.

These from your personal collection, Brad? I like the cartoon caricatures you have of the Yankees, like them a lot.

More Tarzan
And here's a really good website displaying the photographs of Hank and Bob Olen, with copious old Yankees material. If you click on the link at the top ("The Olen Collection"), there are pages and pages, though unfortunately they all have the watermark semi-obscuring the contents of the photo, so I didn't bother posting them here. But worth a look.

Re: Great Yankee photos
Talked to my friend in Orlando this AM. It was down to forty degrees!.. Hope everyone is staying warm.
This lucky acquisition is three, original fan snapshots from a less than half-full Sportsmen's Park. All are in very fine condition and show exceptional clarity. After a few hours comparing box scores from both leagues in old Sporting News pages and matching them up with the scoreboard in photo 2, I'd finally found the game: June, 7 1941. (I was really bored that day.)
The Clipper is at Game 22 of 'The Streak' and went 3 for 5 in StL this afternoon. Enjoy, Steve

Centerfield and scoreboard;

Re: Great Yankee photos
I believe that the player standing to the left of Maris and Rizzuto is Bob Cerv who was Roger and Mickey's roommate in 1961.

Re: Great Yankee photos
Over the weekend, as a gift, I got an autographed picture of Tino Martinez's game 1 grand slam from the 1998 World Series. It's one hell of a picture.
My question is, is there a web site where I can buy pictures of great Yankee moments. I don't want them autographed, just pictures of them celebrating World Series wins and things like that.
If it was asked somewhere in this thread, I apologize. I don't have the patience to go through the threads. Not right now, at least. Thanks!

Sorry about that, penguin. Didn't realize this was the wrong place to ask.
I checked those out, thanks. Was wondering if anyone else had them.

Love that photo of Crescent Lake Park BB! If you haven't been there, it's worth a walk-around. Unchanged in about 80 years and wide open for poking around. Beware, the park is haunted.
Not a photo I know... A recent acquisition.

Re: Great Yankee photos
Can anyone identify the non-Paulie/Donnie Yankee in this picture?
We're 95% certain it's Melido Perez, but he was on the DL at the time it was taken (7/23/95) we think, so we're not 100% sure.

Re: Great Yankee photos
Kinda looks a little like Gerald Williams. But it's not a good angle, and he has sunglasses on, so it could be anyone.

Re: Great Yankee photos
Then again, maybe it is Perez; I just searched the Times around that date, and there's somewhat of an indication that he was with the team then, even though he was on the DL... he was scheduled to start sometime that week, but his shoulder flamed up again, and that was it.
