Whats With The Blue Dots and the Green Dots?

How come some of us have blue dots next to our names and some of us have green dots next to our names?

Funny, I hold down Alt and click the numbers 164 for the ñ.

I have a little list taped to my monitor. You hold the ALT key down while typing the numbers on the number keypad---you won't see them but when you release the ALT key, it appears.

I don't understand half of these little things we see here. For example, at the bottom of the page I'm looking at has the names of all the users on this page, but some have a "+" sign after them, including mine. Why is that?

Green dot means a person is "online" (browsing the forums).

Blue/gray dot (which is supposed to signify a "light" that is off, I guess) means they're either offline or they're using invisible mode.

A "+" next to a person's name means they're on your buddy list.

It's directly to the right of a user's screename. Yours is just a fraction of an inch away from the 5 in "smr15."

I don't have any dots anywhere.

The "dots" seem to only appear using the "New Style" version of the forum. Those who aren't seeing them are in the "Old Style" mode. To change the look, the drop-down menu is at the very bottom of the page in the lower left corner.

What are the buddy and ignore lists?

The buddy list is used to keep track of the friends you have made on this forum. By going to your "My vB Home", you'll be able to see which of your friends are currently online, and be able to send them a private message. Adding people to your buddy list also allow you to send private messages to multiple forum members at the same time. You may add any member of the forums to your buddy list by clicking this button in a member's posts. Ignore lists are used for those people who's messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread.
