My mock draft
Since all I have been doing is criticizing other people's mocks, I decided to try one out myself.
1 San Diego - Eli Manning QB Mississippi (Trade with SD)
2 Oakland - Larry Fitzgerald WR Pittsburgh
3 Arizona - Mike Williams WR USC
4 NY Giants - Robert Gallery OT Iowa
5 Washington - Tommie Harris DT Oklahoma
6 Detroit - Sean Taylor S Miami
7 Cleveland - Kellen Winslow TE, Miami
8 Atlanta - Shawn Andrews Arkansas OT (I was thinking of going with Roy Williams here, but I figure their offensive line needs are too great)
9 Jacksonville - Roy Williams WR
10 Texans - Vince Wilfork DT Miami
11 Steelers - Ben Roethlisberger QB Miami-OH
12 JETS - DEANGELO HALL CB VIRGINIA TECH
13 Bills - Chris Gamble CB Ohio State
14 Chicago - Randy Starks DT Maryland
15 Tampa Bay - Kevin Jones RB Virginia Tech
16 San Francisco 49ers - Reggie Williams WR Washington
17 Bengals - Kenechi Udezi DE USC
18 New Orleans- Jonathon Vilma Miami LB
19 Vikings - Will Smith Ohio St. DE
20 Miami - Will Poole USC CB
21 New England - Steve Jackson, RB, Oregon State
22 Dallas - Kevin Jones RB, Virginia Tech
23 Seattle - DJ Williams OLB Miami
24 Denver - Ben Troupe, TE, Florida
25 Green Bay Phillip Rivers QB NC State
26 St. Louis Rams - Ahmad Carroll CB Arkansas
27 Tennessee - Antwan Odom DE Alabama
28 Philadelphia - Michael Clayton WR LSU
29 -Indianapolis - Dontarrious Thomas LB Auburn
30 Kanas City - Derrick Strait CB
31 Carolina - Vernon Carey OG Miami
32 New England Karlos Dansby LB Auburn
I am not so sure about my Philly pick, as I could see them drafting elsewhere after getting TO...“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.”

I wonder if Fritz is gone if Arizona will still go for a WR since they grabbed a good one in the 2nd round last year...
If Fritz is gone, I bet they go after Big Ben...

Here's a thought...
If the Chargers get enamored with Phillip Rivers, they could easily trade down with Cleveland. The Browns would wind up with Gallery #1. Rivers should be there at # 7.[U]Reason Online

03-23-04 02:54 PM #4Good point, but I think Rivers would be a reach at #7. It's so tough to figure this out because you know there are gonna be a bunch of trades that we wouldn't have guessed.Originally posted by RIyankee

Check this out...
This is from (today) The Sporting News Inside Dish (subcribers only)...
...
Even Taylor's stock is slipping after his disappointing Pro Day and what coaches have said after watching him on tape: "He doesn't miss tackles -- he avoids them." He won't go in the top 10, as some previously thought, and he may go down as far as No. 17, where the Bengals will be waiting for him.
TSN said that with the rash of FA safety signings Taylor will be the only safety drafted in the 1stR.[U]Reason Online

03-23-04 10:14 PM #6Wow... I still don't see him dropping just yet. I did hear that DeAngelo Hall had a great workout. I really am hoping he falls to my Jets.Originally posted by RIyankee

Notes on Karlos Dansby:
TSN reported that Dansby turned off scouts with his interview at the combine. He tended to blame coaches and/or teammates for his shortcomings. Scouts are also concerned with Dansby's rapid weight during the past two years and are concerned that his knees and ankles might not hold up during the course of the NFL season. TSN thinks that he could drop to the 3rdR.[U]Reason Online

03-24-04 04:09 PM #8Thanks or the info. I have to update my mock draft. The one big change I am gonna make is move Shane Andrews way down my draft. I know Atlana needs an offensive lineman, but there is no way they pick Andrews that high.Originally posted by RIyankee

what about Corey Dillon going to the Cowboys for a 1st rounder?

03-25-04 12:41 AM #10I don't see them giving up a first rounder, but maybe they would give up a second rounder.Originally posted by ruthianblast

This mock draft has Roethlisberger going to the Giants, which is the first I have seen go that way.

03-25-04 06:39 AM #121st rounder is way too high for a guy who will be eventually released. The Raiders are working on a deal for Dillion for a #3 this year and a conditional #5 next year...Originally posted by ruthianblast

No team will trade a pick that is higher than a sixth rounder for Dillon. He's a head case and the Bengals will release him anyway.

I heard that Eli's dad Archie is doing everything possible to prevent his son from going to the Chargers and wants him going to the Giants.

Here's a Giants update:
The Giants, selecting at No. 4, aren't close to coming to terms on a future deal with quarterback Kerry Collins, who is in the final year of his contract. In the past, Collins has amicably agreed to extensions with fair numbers because he was happy to be in New York. He felt a sense of loyalty to the team that gave him a chance to come back from his off-the-field problems.
With Jim Fassel gone, that's not the case anymore. Collins has made it clear he wants an extension at a market value, which the Giants have no intention of meeting...
The rest of the article is on a subcribers only site for The Sporting News.
Here's another mock that has Big Ben going to the Giants...

03-25-04 07:03 AM #15Exactly right. The package the Raiders are offering seems to be about right for a guy with Dillon's skills (and he does have skills... 1100+ yards in each of his first 6 seasons until last season, playing for crappy Bengals teams), but who is also turning 30 this year and has character issues.Originally posted by NYYFAN

If the Cowboys were to use a 1st rounder on a RB, and I hope they do, I'd also like to assume that it would be through the draft and not given up for a dude who's only 4 years younger than the formerly glorious Dallas #22 when he was released last off-season. Contrary to popular opinion, Parcells is trying to build the team so that it can win both now AND in the future. Dillon would be nice to have around, but only for approximately the price which the Raiders are offering--not much more, and maybe even less.NYYFFFL: Impact Litigators
