The Fenway Park bowling alley is kaput

The bowling alley under the left field grandstand is no more

And now, there is no bowling in baseball

''I was very disappointed when I got the call we were done," said P.J. McCaul, 50, who managed the bowling alley the past eight years. ''But I got over it in a day."
    That cracked me up!

But seriously, I wasn't even aware there was a bowling alley there. Pretty cool.

Well with Burkett gone, I don't think any active players had it on their contract that the Bowling Alley had to be there.

The bowling alley dates back to 1934 when the park was rebuilt and the Sox added an office building on the Brookline Ave side. NESN is located above the alley. The alley entered out on Lansdowne St right next to Gate E.

But evicting the alley is another indication they not going anywhere soon.

Since the Sox plan to use the space for enhancements, I think they have decided to stay @ Fenway for at least the next 5/7 years. My gut tells me they want to make it to 2012 where they can celebrate 100 years.
(And our by then 10 World Series wins)

Only need 5 more, no problem

I bowled there once about 2.5 years ago.

I think it's called Ryan's Amusements. My wife helped organize a PeopleSoft event there when her company decided to use their payroll systems.

What do they plan on doing with that empty space?

Short term perhaps storage as they have made the concourse bigger upstairs.

Long term, they have talked about moving the Red Sox clubhouse to the third base side and using part of the office space to do so, and the visiting team would get the old Sox clubhouse.

The visiting clubhouse at Fenway maybe the worst in the majors ( or AAA for that matter)

There's a Ryan's Amusements in Newport but it's an arcade.
