    Hit his head on a fall apparently due to a heart attack or seizure...Wife found his body. What a shame.

    Read your 39 book.
    Jake Powell played LF for the Bombers 1936-1940, i did see him play(38)..In the 1936 WS he hit 455 with 1 Homer & 5 Rbi vs the Giants.
    He was part of the "Window Breakers lineup "In 1936 the Yankees led the majors with 182 HR`s and batted an even 300 asa a team.
    Jake Powell hit 306 that year.

    Thanks Michaels07! I guess I haven't gotten to that part of the book yet. I've been away for a few days and haven't read much of anything. I'm leaving to see the pinstripers in about an hour...that is if there is a game this afternoon. I got these tickets unexpectedly and hope the rain holds off until late tonight. I probably will be gone again over the next few days.
