According to ESPN, it's a done deal. 1 year, $2 million...

He has averaged 48 games a year over the last four years. Awesome...

Not that I'm suggesting he's durable by any stretch of the imagination, but he did play 74 of the Orioles final 80 games last year after he finally got healthy.

He also hit .284/.327/.441 against lefties last year and is still good defensively. If he gets platooned with Johnson, it could be a decent, cheap 2nd base combo. They still need another infielder pretty badly, though.

Roberts has worn #1 his whole career. Obviously, there are no single digits left for the Yankees...so the question is, what number will he choose?

He's a mess. Aside from using 'roids and whatever toll that took on his body:
    • Roberts missed much of spring training in 2010 with a herniated disc in his lower back.
    • He recovered in time for Opening Day, but started the season 2 for 14 before suffering an abdominal strain stealing second base and being forced onto the 15-day disabled list.
    • Roberts suffered a concussion on September 27, 2010, after he hit himself in the head with his baseball bat out of frustration.
    • He suffered his second concussion on May 16, 2011, when he slid into first base headfirst and hit the back of his head. He did not return for the remainder of the season.
    • June 12, 2012, a groin strain returned him to the disabled list on July 3.
    • Ater a brief attempt at another rehab assignment, he elected to have season-ending hip surgery on July 29.
    • In spring training in 2013, Roberts reported that he was free of the post-concussion syndrome resulting from his 2011 concussion. On April 4, during the Orioles' third game of the season, Roberts ruptured a tendon behind his right knee

With this kind of history, I hope he does not swing a weighted bat a la Tex - he would pop a tendon before hitting the on-deck circle.
Forgive me for taking the Contrarian view

LOL...they might have to employ a team of doctors just to follow him around.

I like this signing. Low risk for the Yankees.....what's two million dollars to them? Who knows he might have an injury free year and give them a productive season.

Will he even make it through Spring training?
