    Old- check
    Always injured- check

We're collecting often inured players like stamps.

Yup but will not get Tanaka as he would put them over 189$M the yankees will use the same line of the last few weeks. We made a offer but someone thought he was worth more

Ellsbury's injuries were from external forces and Beltran has remained pretty healthy lately. Roberts is a definite gamble though...

    Curious to see the $$$$$$$$$$

They seem to be collecting back-up infielders.

Does anyone see this guy getting back to his career numbers if he stays healthy? If being the key word of course...

Loved this kid when he was with the Orioles. Still remember that horrible injury he had.

Would love to see him have a semi bounce back year, but I really can't see it happening.

It could be a platoon thing. He was good against LHP.

    Johnson v. RHP
    Roberts v LHP

Edit: they also appear to be really high on Dean Anna, and looks to get a realistic shot at being the regular 2B.

Maybe if they put all the healthy parts of all the often-injured players together, they'd have one totally healthy guy.

Can't say I'm excited about Brian Robert's age 36 season. Over the last 4 years he hasn't produced a lick:

    2010-2013: G 192 PA 809 HR 15 .246/.310/.359 OPS+ 82 WAR 1.0

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first $189 million dollar man!

Roberts could be good. If they sign him and get him dirt cheap he is worth the shot. I mean they will not give him much if they do. So a flyer out on him is not really all that bad.

As I am sure this is one of those low guarantee money deals with incentives I don't see any harm.

He was a Yankee killer for years, now he'll just kill the Yankees by being here.

May as well give Jose Pirela a shot in Spring Training.

I know it isn't rational but if we are to use a player who is likely to be bad...I would much prefer us to use a younger version.

Exactly... I have not seen the terms of the deal yet but assuming it's a one year deal for low $$$ as a base, no harm no foul. It's low risk and high reward... I know it's a tired old cliche, but no such thing as a bad one year deal..
I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

I think this is often used to mean simply low risk. I don't see much in the way of high reward here.
