Beltran swings..and THERE IT GOES TO DEEP RIGHT…That ball is high..MMMMIt is far..It is………what is it? Its gone!!!! Carlos creams one into the right field seats..but…why is he stopping at second? It must have….wait Suzyn…did it?

John I think it bounced over the right field wall

Ohhh….I seeee..(no, he didn't) it must be a grounds rule double. Well anyway Suzyn that;s just bookkeeping..give Beltran a double..and an RBI..and Texas leads 3-2

Wait Suzyn, the scoreboard must be broken there was a man on third…

John, that ws the third base coach

Oh I see…his number is very similar to Ellsbury, well anyway here is McCann…and THERE IT GOES TO DEEP LEFT….

    Re: New Sterling Calls..

I am very confident that Sterling will stop the schtick this season. He'll pay attention to the game and instead focus on clear, accurate, and classic calls, including updating the listeners on the score and other game situations more frequently.

John is a great broadcaster who cares about his audience's enjoyment of the broadcast much more than he does about the attention he gets for his somewhat over-the-top calls. As someone who is so in-tune to the audience, he understands that his attempts to constantly come up with clever calls are now detracting from the game. I'm very confident that he'll put those attempts to rest this season.

But then again, ya can't predict baseball.

And with McCann's shot in the 7th he is our McDonald's man of the inning.

Deep to center field up against the wall it is...caught! Ellsbury crashes into the wall and it looks like he is hurt. What a terrible blow to the Yankees. And with that injury to Jacoby we'd like to remind you that Jacoby and Meyers is America's Most Familiar Law Firm.

I hate Sterling, probably more than most... but let's not mistake the advertisements as his doing.
Sponsers pay a good chunk-a-change to advertise during the Yankee games and Sterling is obligated to deliver those ads.
However, his feet shouold also be held to the fire to report on what's happening in the game!
I believe he can no longer see the field from where he sits and that is why he gets so many calls wrong.

    Completely agree about the ads.

As for the game reporting...always keep in mind that it's The John Sterling Show, with special guest stars The New York Yankees. Remember that and you won't be quite so frustrated.

I'm still frustrated because it's not like there is another option. I am forced to endure him.

I refuse to listen to the radio broadcasts. If enough people follow suit the ratings will take a hit. Sterling would be viewed differently by ownership if he began costing the organization money.

While I totally agree with you, how many people get into their cars and turn on the ball game? Or they already have their radios tuned to WCBS and the game is on when they get into the car?
It's too difficult to have a mass exodus from the radio broadcast.
Plus...the average baseball fan loves Sterling because of his tomfoolery.

I try very hard, not to listen. When I'm in the car, I tune my Sirius app to the visiting team's broadcast. It's so difficult to listen to Sterling.

Agreed. But so many people love him, I think. Or maybe are more tolerable of him. I hate him and I wish I could make it known to the organization. Problem is I love the Yankees more than I hate Sterling. So again, I try to endure.

I like Sterling. Maybe it's because the Giants commentators have been so historically bad by contrast.

"He has a swing like that of so and so."

Uhh, he has a swing like so and so isn't clear enough?

Wait a second. You like Sterling because locally you're forced to listen to...Jon Miller and Duane Kuiper? Historically bad?
