Just in. Three managers in at once.

I didn't realize there were different rules for non-players.

Fittingly, Cox could go in with Maddux and Glavine by his side.

The George Steinbrenner that was suspended on several occasions during his tenure?

Don't get me wrong, I like what George did during his days as owner. But let's not get crazy. He doesn't belong in the HOF.

I pray they never let George in. The man was suspended twice for life (and reinstated), once for a felony. Not to mention a lot of other issues.

For spying on his own player or for being suspended for 2 years allowing the Yanks to return to relevance?

Re: Joe Torre, Bobby Cox and Tony LaRussa all make it to the HOF

I will admit I hated GMS III for many years. We toasted his second suspension when it was announced. But this is not the Boy Scout Hall of Fame. The man was a winner. He took a $10m investment and turned it into the most valuable franchise in sports. 17 division titles. 11 WS appearances. 7 WS titles. He helped change baseball forever with his use of Free Agents.

Was he perfect? No. Charlie Comiskey is in the HoF, and he was so notoriously cheap, and scornful of his players, they threw the 1919 WS. Tom Yawkey is in the HoF, for owning the team during most of their 86-year drought. Bill Veeck is in the Hall, and had no championships either. I think Steinbrenner is easily up there with Comiskey, Yawkey, Veeck, Rupert, and O'Malley.

Even if you think George should be in the Hall, he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Marvin Miller. None of these people should be.

I don't usually like Rick Reilly, but he is spot on with this article.

Even though These three were great managers , I wonder how many wins they had because they had players using steroids?

It's probably close to a wash, since other teams had players using steroids too.

Then why do so many people insist on keeping players from the steroid era out of the HOF? They were competing against players who were also using PED's
