    ALDS: Tigers vs Athletics

Still carrying a resentment from last years post season, so I'm rooting for the A's

A's have hit Scherzer, Verlander & Sanchez well this year. If that continues, yes the A's will win.

Oakland here....only team from the AL I would root for.
If they ask who was our star, give them 25 names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Best case scenario: Both the Tigers and the Red Sox get sent packing in the first round.
I've always liked the A's. I hope they win the pennant. Billy Beane's waited a long, long time and he deserves the prize. (But not the whole prize. I want that for Donnie Baseball.)

How can MLB justify C.B. Bucknor in the postseason umpire's rotation?

Quite a pitching duel going on in Oakland.

I was just getting on here to say the same thing...on both counts. This is when I really love the game...

Another walkoff win in the postseason for the A's.

They even the series 1-1 against the Tigers.

    That's all in Detroit.

The Oakland Athletics takes Game 3 over the Detroit Tigers 6-3 to take a 2-1 series lead in this best-of-5 ALDS clash.

The A's knocked Anibal Sanchez out of the game with three home runs from Josh Reddick, Brandon Moss and a 2-run blast from Seth Smith.

Why not? They are getting good pitching, timely hitting and don't make very many mistakes.

I think they would have just as good of a chance as the Tigers. But this series isn't over.

Well, they split the season series with the Sox 3-3 winning two at home and one at the ugly green bandbox. Can they take 4 out of 7? With their pitching, I'd say the As have just as good a chance as the Tigers but who knows?

I think the A's have a decent chance at beating the Sux. Just my opinion though.

    Re: ALDS: Tigers vs Athletics

I say Game 4 is a do or die for both the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics.

For the Tigers, they need a win to force a Game 5 on Thursday inside O.co Coliseum.

For the Athletics, they need to win to duplicate the last time they won a postseason series which was in the 2006 ALDS vs. the Minnesota Twins where they won two games inside the Metrodome.

If they lose Game 4 today, the A's will have problems trying to clinch at home since their last AL Pennant in 1990 against the Boston Red Sox. The A's are 1-6 in home games in those situations since their last AL pennant in 1990 and that win was Game 3 in the 2006 ALDS vs. the Twins.

    Re: ALDS: Tigers vs Athletics

I think the 1-6 has very little relevance. I do think having to face Scherzer who struck them out about a million times in G1 has a lot more relevance.

That said they hit Scherzer well when then met late in the season so even if they lose g4 they have a shot at G5.

I think what is huge is if the A's can score early the Tiger will press hard since they've only scored in 2 of 27 innings this series.
