I don't see the point in buying a closer when we have an option in house and there are other things to worry about. But what do I know.

The other monstrous needs the team has should come way before they think about the bull pen.

Yeah I'm worried about SP and C more than anything, not to mention the 2B issue but I don't think it will be an issue.

Totally agree about the monstrous needs, but the unfortunate reality is that the bullpen's not in that great a shape either. Losing a guy like Mo is pretty significant, and even if Roberston becomes the closer, we need another Robertson. And that's assuming Robertson makes a successful transition to that role. Bullpen may not be a "monstrous" need, but it's still among the needs they need to think about.

Think about, sure. Going out to pay for an expensive closer I don't agree with. I'll take the guys that aren't name brands for this issue. As long as they get the job done. I hate to cite this but Uehara was the Sox fourth choice as closer. In 2012 Sergio Romo became elite out of nowhere. Granted, he was blocked, and I knew he had the numbers since I often found him on my fantasy teams, but he was not the guy that would command the numbers these FA will.

The problem,. right now, is that there is alotta ifs.
If Cano re-signs. If Jeter returns healthy. If Alex plays at all.

"IF" the stars align and the offense can handle itself, it's not a significant issue to let the 'kids' catch. But "IF" the Yankees lose out on some of the offense from Alex, Jeter and Cano, they have to be sure to get some kind of offnesive production out of the catcher spot.
Otherwise, good defense with poor-to-average offense can be buried in the lineup.

Pitching needs to take priority - right now.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports tweets that the interest is mutual between Hudson and the Red Sox. Hudson is close with catcher David Ross and wants to win a World Series ring before he retires, Passan adds.

Looks like the Red Sox are now concidered the place to go to win a WS....

I would hope we are at least kicking the tires on him with no compensation involved and only two starters penciled in...

That tends to happen right after a team wins the WS...

Haha, the sox might not even be good next year. Can Ortiz keep up that production at 38, Ellsbury will likely be gone, bogaerts and middlebrooks both have looked bad. Although we have only seen a small sample size with bogaerts. Rotation looks even worse, Lester isn't an ace in the regular season, lackey has on and off years, buchholz has shoulder problems, peavy isn't good.

    Are you kidding me?
Of course he will put up the same numbers.
He'll put up those numbers until he's 60!
Ya know - with the milkshakes and all... and NO ONE in the world gives a damn. Mostly because he's not wearing a Yankee uniform.

    That's kind of hilarious

According to sources, the Yankees are interested in Ubaldo Jimenez, Bronson Arroyo, Scott Feldman and Dan Haren.

The Yankees have also been rumored to be looking into Shin-Soo Choo, Jacoby Ellsbury, Masahiro Tanaka, Brian McCann, Matt Garza, and Stephen Drew.
Basically, they are interested in every FA except Ervin Santana.

    Jimenez/Kamir/Tanaka/Beltran/McCann/Johnson/Choo in no order.

A few from that list would please me.

Yeah, sure - let's sign Jiminez because we need to relive the AJ Burnett experience again...
