2013/14 New York Yankee Off-Season Thread

The most interesting offseason to happen to the Yankees has begun.

Girardi's FA status and Arods appeal hearings start it off and the dominos should fall after that.

Hoping Kemp is a buy low candidate that gets bandied about for the Yankees.

Is Grandy coming back next year? I haven't heard much about that issue.

The Grandy Man can come back next year because the Grandy Man mixes it with love and makes the world go round.

I think they'll give him the qualifying offer. I'm thinking it's 50/50 he accepts.

Can Soriano move to 2B if Cano leaves?

You know....makes you wonder if this might have been a reason the Yanks went after him. Insurance.

I really hope we don't see Soriano at 2B. In the event Cano leaves we should call TX about Kinsler. They have Profar waiting in the wings.

If we had enough to land Kinsler that would be the perfect deal. Unfortunately the Yankees have nothing to give that Texas would really want.

I think if Cano goes elsewhere the Yankees go hard after Omar Infante.

I'm wondering the same thing about OF. Soriano, Gardner and Ichiro isn't exactly Murder's Row (if Granderson doesn't return). Of course Vernon Wells will be back at the bargain basement price of just $2.4 mil. That must be the key to "OF - ok".

I don't see Kemp going anywhere.
    That's a pipe dream.
Besides the Yankees have nothing to give approaching what the Dodgers would want.

This organization needs an overhaul in the worst way.
As much as I would love to see Cashman and Levine gone, that's not going to happen.
These two clowns have to do a better job at taking care of business. I give the front office a FAT "F" for their performances.

Let's start with resigning Giraldi and Cano.
I don't care if Kuroda comes back or not. His disappearing the last couple months of the season was pathetic.
I think Robertson can be the next closer, so I'm not worried there.
I hope Cashman and the Tampa have more of a clue next season.
Their decision not to resign Martin blew up right in their face. Watching Stewart behind the plate was painful. He's a backup, nothing more.
The rotation has to be upgraded as well as right field.

I will defer to those who know the Yanks' farm system, but it seems to me there aren't
any young stars on the horizon. Or are there?

I'm just hoping that there are no days off for anybody in the Yanks front office and they
make it their business to get this team back in the playoffs.

Kinsler does have a terrible contract. It might not be the player. but the amount of money taken on that Texas would be interested in. Especially if they are going after Abreu....or Cano.

I think both Cano and Abreu end up in Texas. They have deep pockets.

SS-not ok, even if Jeter is 100% healthy, which is an unlikely probability
OF-beyond Gardner and Soriano, not really okay. Time to move on from Granderson. Plus, need a productive 4th OF besides Ichiro.
    C-Not okay. Sign McCann.
    SP-big problem
Combined with the other positions you nailed, this team has a ton of work to do.

The only position that is ok is 2nd base if Cano returns. Every other position has major issues.

SS- not okay if Jeter insists on being there next year

OF- keep Gardner, keep Soriano, sign Granderson to a low money deal or let him walk, eat the money and DFA Ichiro

SP- need 3 replacements, not 2. CC and Nova look to be the only returning arms.

This could be a very rough ride, especially if the appeal process for ARod drags out into Free Agency.

Wrong p word, you mean possibility.

He has had a 2 injury plagued past 2 years and is still owed 6/130, one of the Dodgers OF not named Puig will be on the trading block, and if they want to maximize their return they would get the most for him.

I'm sure a package centered around Sanchez would get them to listen.

Although, I'm not sure it would be wise now. I didn't realized what he was signed to.
